The Paris papeT* of the 1st instant contain noth
ing new on tue subject of tho Eustern question.
No intelligence had reached Paris since the re
ceipt of the telegraphic despatch from Toulon
announcing the rejection by the Pacha of the pro-
poialsof the Powers. IV ith the exception of the
ultra-radical and legitimist journals, the Pnrisian
press is almost unanimous in calculating upon a
pacific arrangement of the differences which have
arisen ^between France and the four European
Powers.
Louis Bonaparte, the Father of the young
Prince Napoleon, and formerly King of Holland,
die husband of Hortenso, has written tho follow
ing leUet to the editor of the Paris Commerce:
“Florence, Aug. 24th.
"Sir, I pray you to receivo the following dec
laration: I know that publicity is a strange, and
perhaps singular, method to have recourse to; but
when a father who is old, afflicted by disease, ex
patriated by law, has no other means, of assisting
an unfortunate son, every one who can appreci
ate a father's feelings, must appprove of it. I am
convinced that my son, the only one left to me,
has been the victim of an infamous intrigue, and
tbatbe was seduced by false friends, vile flatterers,
aud perhaps bv industrious advice, mid therefore
to remain silent would be waiting in duty,
and to expo’so myself to bluer regrets.
"Ideclare, then, that my son has fallen the
third time into a frightful snare, since it is impos
sible that any man of common sense should have
deliberately thrown himself into a precipice. If
he bo guilty, the truly guilty are those who sedu
ced him astray. ! particularly declare, with reli-
;ioue honor, that the insult offered to my son,
By confining him in the dungeon of an infamous
assassin, is a monstrous cruelty, auti-French, and
an outrage os vile as it is insidious.
“ As afatber, profoundly afflicted, as a good
Frenchman, chastened bv 30 years exile, ns a bro
ther, and I dure to say it, the pupil of him whoso
itatues are about being re-established, I recom
mend my deluded sou to alj those who have the
feelings of a Frenchman and a parent.
LOUIS DE ST. LUE.”
Nothing further has transpired in relation to
14 the Bonaparte plot.” The trial was expected
> take place on tho 1st ofOctober.
The Journal des Debuts speaks of tumultuous
roups which formed on the Boulevard St. Mar
tin on Tuesday night, uttering revolutionary
'Ties, and seeking to procure and hoist a red flag.

and tho prices of last week are fully supported. The
operations in West India do not exceed 1800 hbdt

ofMauritius or Bengal. The demand for Foreign
Sugar of every kind continues dull, but thd small
quantity offering, prices do notgivo way. A few aeies
have been made of yellow Havana at 25a to2Gs per
cwt. In the Refined Sugar market there has been
a fair demand for grocery coods. but a small reduction
upon last week's rates. Standard Lumps have been
sold at 107$ per cwt; for export, there is. however,
little nr no demand, and double crushed is merely
nominal at 33s 6d per cwt.

scarcely any business has been done, and their value
