Virginians Fortifying Arlington Heights
—Baltimoreans Determined.
Hamu sauna, Pa., April 24th.—Hon. Caleb
Cashing hss arrived from Washington. He
sejs that Gen. Lee, with five thousand Virgin
ia troops, are now oovsring Arlington Heights.
[Arlington Heights is the residence of the UU
George Washington Park Custis, and is on the
Virginia side of the Potomac, just opposite the
President's Mansion, which is in full cannon
range from thst point.—Ids. OoitrsnsaACT.]
Fort Mifflin has been garrisoned.
He reports that the Baltimore mob element
is powerless to act with system; bat it is be
lieved that the people will compel the troops
to return, or fight their wey through the eity
step by step.
The Beil wey between Baltimore and Wash
ington had been obstructed, and tome bridges
destroyed.
The people Sooth of the Susquehanna are
loyal to the United flutes, and will defend
Havre do Grace against the BeoetsiouisU.

Anurous, April 24 —Gov. Hicks protested
against the landing of Gov. Butler’s Massachu
setts Kogimeatat Annapolis; they therefore
landed at the Naval Academy.
The Baltimore American confirms the report
ef the)aeuttfiag of the Pennsylvania, the Col nin
th# Delaware, the Raritan and the Meri-
mac, at Norfolk Navy Yard, by orders of Com
modore Pendergrast. The PocahonUe and
Cumberland are the only Teasels saved. They
will carry away the Government force#. The
Ship houses are being torn down, and factorise
levelled, with the intention of firing and aban
doning them.
Tbo Mayors of Norfolk and Portsmouth, on
Saturday night, sent a flag of truce to Commo
dore Pendergrast inquiring if he intended to
Are on their oities; and be replied, that if fired
npoq, or if thq Navy Yard was attacked, it
would be hie duty to teturn the fire.
The excitement is intense. The women and
ehildren are flying, and the men are rallying
to arms.

Rehcountre.—We regret to state that a
personal rencountre took place last evening,
just before dark, on Church street, between
Mr. John Lellyett and Col. V. K. Stevenson,
in tbs course of which tbs latter waa shot in
tbs arm by Mr. William Lellyett who was in
company with his brother when the difficulty
occtrred. The affair waa altogether unpre
meditated. We are glad to learn that the Col
onel's wound is slight—a flesh wound.—.VusA-

How They no Thinus in Tuskmsx.—We
learn from Capt. Law, wbo came down from
Tuekegee last night, that the cltiseni of that
plaea are all aglow with the military spirit—
They ara as generous, too, ss brave. Ths
“Zouaves” and the “Light Infantry" compa
nies contain more than their full complement
of members, aod about $11,000 were yeater
day appropriated to uniform and properly
equip them. Well done for Tuskegee. This
