COLUMBUS WEEKLY SUN.
T. W. LANE AND T. DE WOLE,
EDITORS.
THE DAILY SUN being now established on a basis,
broad enough and strong enough, to secure its per
manence, we have determined to carry out our long
cherished intention, the establishment of a
Weekly paper.
THE WEEKLY SUN, will be made up from the choic
est matter of our daily; like it, will maintain a strict
neutrality as to party aud creed; and like it, will contain
all the latest aud most interesting received, up to
the hour of going to press.
On the first of September next, we shall have in suc
cessful operation, liberal
TELEGRAPHIC ARRANGEMENTS,
which will enable us to lay before our readers the very
latest news, Foreign and Domestic, Commercial, Politi
cal and Miscellaneous. Wo might enlarge at great
length, upon our intentions; but preferring performance
to promises, we shall endeavor to have the “ SUN ” make
its own way exclusively upon such merit as it may be
found to possess.
Before embarking in this project, which will be an ex
pensive and laborious one, we desire to have some guar
anty of its success. We therefore invite subscriptions
and invoke the aid of our friends; and so soon as
ONE THOUSAND
reliable names shall be procured, the first number trill
be issued aud promptly mailed. Then, but not till then,
payment will be expected of all subscribers.
We shall adhere strictly to the advance CASH SYS
TEM, not only for our own, but our readers’ good. Eve
ry reader is interested in this system: for it is tho only
one by which a journal can be successfully established,
and its interest and usefulness maintained.
The Weekly Sun will be a large and handsome sheet,
printed on good paper, aud containin'; a larger amount of
reading matter, adapted both to specific and general
wants and tastes, than any paper in Western Georgia,or
the State of Alabama. Advertisements will not bo al
lowed to encroach upon our reading matter, except to a
very limited extent.
Subscription Price, $2.50 per annum, invariably in ad
vance.
Liberal inducements are offered to Postmasters and
Agents, who will interest themselves to increase our
circulation —inducements that will enable men of ener
gy to reap real benefit from their efforts in our behalf.
Upon this point full particulars may be obtained by ad
dressing THOMAS DEWOLF.
The Hair.
There is nothing so becoming to cither man
or woman as a good head of hair, yet we see
many who. from carelessness or neglect, let
their hair become so dry and frosty that it is
really not fit to be seen, while, if they would
only procure one bottle of Wood’s Hair Resto
rative and use it, they could have as luxuriant
a crop as any body else.
BLANK ATTACHMENTS.
ATTACHMENTS conforming to the late statute, cor
. rectly printed on superior paper, for sale at the
duly 21. SUN OFFICE.
NOTICE.
TAKEN from my room, in Odd Fellows’ Hall, on or
about Wednesday, 23d of July, a fine new DOUBLE
BARRELED SHOT GUN, Mortimer’s make. Any in
formation which will lead to Its recovery, will be liber
ally rewarded, by

FIFTY DOLLARS REWARD.
LOOK OUT FOR THE
SCOUNDREL AND THIEF,
JOHN W. BEACKLY alias BELL,
A BOOK BINDER BY TRADE,
YirilO I have reason to believe is now skulking about
V V Russell county, Alabama. Having by false repre
sentations obtained credit of our merchants for dress aud
jewelry to deeorate himself and wife, he was arrested by
some of his creditors and held to bail. I was induced by
necessity for his service in my bindery and professions of
a-desire to have an opportunity to make the money to hon
orably relieve himself, to become his bail. He failed to ap
peur and. forfeited his bail, leaving me liable for sums in
the aggregate, of over two hundred dollars. His entire
debts in this city obtained under the above related cir
cumstances, amount to over six hundred dollars.
Having no time to waste in pursuit of this double re
fined scoundrel, I offer a reward of fifty dollars for his
apprehension and delivery to the Sheriff of Muscogee
county, Georgia. Late revelations satisfy me that the
Penitentiary is his proper place.
I caution the public wherever he may go, to be on
their guard against him, as he lias never been known to
pay a debt. The trade every where will do well to look
out for and steer clear of him.
DESCRIPTION.—He is 35 or 38 years of age, five feet
10 or 11 inches in height, lias very irregular filthy look
ing front teeth, and usually wears a terrier looking
moustache. THOMAS DE WOLF.
Columbus, Ga., Aug. 2, 1856. Proprietor Daily Sun.

Cincinnati Sun, aud Philadelphia Ledger, will each give
the above one insertion, and forward their bills to me
’ for payment.

HAIR RESTORATIVE.
It Has Worked Miracles.
TIHIAT ALL THE BALD AND GRAY can be restored
_L perfectly to original growth, so far as their locks are
concerned, does not admit of doubt; besides, it will cure
every possible disease of tho scalp, whether developed us
dandruff, itching, or in the shape of cutaneous erup
tions—even scald-head—aud iu no possible case will it
fail of curing, as if by magic, nervous or periodical head
ache, aud if used twice a week by tho young, regularly,
it will preserve tho color, and keep the hair from falling,
to any imaginable age. Read and judge.
Looansport, la.. June, 1866

closed, please find thirty-eight dollars, it being the
umouiit lor Hair Restorative. I have sold it all. * *
If you choose, you may send six dozen bottles Hair Res
torative; I think I can sell it. It has worked miracles
iu this place. 1 sold a man six $1 bottles, that was Imld,
and it fetched new hair out all over his head.
Yours, respectfully, M. 11. GRIDLEY
C. 11. It. Office, Vandalu, June 21,1864
professor w ood—
Dear Sir—l take pleasure in bearing voluntary Us
tlmouy to the excellence of your Hair Restorative. Three
months ago my hair was very gray. It is now a dark
brown, (the original color,) smooth and glossy. The onlj
application 1 have made to it, has been the Ilair Resto
rative prepared by you, and which, from the result iu
my own case, l can most cordially recommend to others
Respectfully, yours, KDW. YVOLCOTT
Vincennes, fa., June 21, 1853.
PROF. O. J. Mood—
As you aro about to manufacture and vend your re
cently discovered Hair Restorative, 1 will state, for
whomsoever it may concern, that I have used it, and
known otlierN to use it—that 1 have, for several years,
been in the habit of using ether Hair Restoratives, and
that 1 find yours vastly superior to any other 1 know .
It entirely cleanses tile head of dandruff, and with one
mouth's proper use, will restore any person's hair to the
original youthful color and texture, giving it a healthy,
soft and glossy appearance; and all this, without discol
oring tlie hands that apply it, or the dress on which it
drops. I would, therefore, recommend its use to every
one desirous of having a fine color aud texture of halt
Respectfully, yours, WILSON KING.
v. Louis, June 29, 1863.
PROF. WOOD—
As you are about to preparo and vend your recently
discovered Hair Restorative, and as you request my ojiln
ion of it, 1 will state, that my hair was, a few months
ago, very gray, and after using two bottles of your Hail
Restorative, it resumed its original color; and since its
application, all dandruff has disappeared from my head,
and 1 have been troubled with no disagreeable itcldng ot
the scalp. lam satisfied that those who uso it will not
regret it, us it gives the hair the appearance of having
been recently oiled. lam prepared, therefore, to recoin
mend its use to all wlto are desirous of having a beautiful
head of hair. I am, sir, yours, etc.
H. L. STEWART.
PROF. MOOD—
Dear Sir—My hair had, for several years, been be
coming prematurely gray, accompanied by a harshness
which tendered the constant application of oil necessary
in dressing it. When 1 commenced using your Hair Res
torativc, about two months ago, it was in that condition ;
and having continued its use till within the last three
weeks, it lias turned to its natural color, and assumed a
softness and lustre greatly to be preferred to those pro
duced by the application of oils or any other preparation
1 have ever used. 1 regard it as uu indispensable article
for every lady’s toilet, whether to be used as a Hair lies
to rati ve, or for the simple purpose of dressing or beauti
tying the hair. You have permission to refer to me all
who entertain any doubt of its performing all that is
claimed for it. MUM. C. SYMONDS,

PROF. O. J. WOOD—
Allow mu to attest the virtues aud magic powers ot
youi llair Restorative. Three months since, being ex
ceedingly gray, 1 purchased, and soon commenced to use,
two bottles; and it soon began to tell, iu restoring the
silver locks to their native color, ami the hair, which was
before dry and harsh and falling off, now became soft
and aud it ceased falling; the dandruff disap
peared, and tho scalp lost all the disagreeable itching,
so annoying before, and now, I not only look, but feel
young again. Respectfully, yours, etc. *
