W. E.Hauan, Troy, N. Y., —Dear Sir: Having
used your Hair Coloring or UeHtoiative, anti being
much pleased with it, 1 take pleasure in making
the following statement: From the efl.’ctd of a
very severe fit of sickness, when about 18 years of
age, my hair commenced turning grey, and so
continued to grow until it became, jierfectly white,
being very harsh aud coarse. Last summer 1 had
reached my fifty-third year, when I was induced
by a friend to purchase two bottles of IleiiUHtreeUs
Hair Restorative, prepared by you. I commenced
using it according to directions, and iu a few days
was surprised to find that my hair from the roots
outward was turning hack to its original color.
It so continued to grow until it was as truly
brown and glossy as it wus in my youthful days,
aml is now tally restored to its original color.
MYLA SEAMAN.
Essex County, bh. —Myla Seaman came before
me and was duly sworn, and says that the above
statement is true, this fith day of February, 1868.
JOEL F. POTTER, Justice of the Peace.
PITTHFORD, VT , Allglist 1, 1857.
I hereby certify that my hair having become
quite grey, I used Hi imstreet’s 11 air Restorative
(prepared by W. E. Hagan, Troy, N. Y.,) for four
weeks, aud my hair was iu that time restored to
its original color. I cun fully recommend the ar
ticle to he all it claims.
WILLIAM KINGSLEY,
Pastor of the Baptist Church, Pittsford, Vt.
Mr. W. K. Hagan: I have used Iloluistreet’s Hair
Restorative for three years, aud find it to liemust
excellent article. It not only restored the color * f
my hair, giving it new life and strength, but It
cured myself and wifeof a most obstinate eruption
upon the scalp, which nothing else seniud to benefit.
I fully believe it to be the best article in use.
Yours, respectfully,
KNOWLTON HOWLAND.
The above are but a lew of the many letters of
recommendation which have been tendered to the
proprietors of Heimatreet's Hair Coloring or Re
storative. It has be* n used by thousands of peo
ple, and it never fails to restore the color and
growth of the hair. This singular effect is not
produced act when dyes are used ; for Us acts upon
the natural secretions of coloring matter at the
roots, ami thus effects the change. The valor pro
duced is not a counterfeit, but the. natural shade of
youth. It dose not color the skin.

SlnKlng of the Arkuusn* Traveler
llont a Total Lo.s-Cnrgo Seri
ously Damaged and one Passenger
Drowned.
Through li. Frank Fierce, of tho S. li.
Tucker, aud John 11. Harbin, of the Kate
May, we learn the particulars of the .snag
ging mid sinking of the Arkansas Trav
eler, iu Arkansas river, on Wednesday
night lust. The boat was running in the
New Orleans and Arkansan river trade,
and was on her way from New Orleans
to Fort Smith with a large cargo of
sugar, molasses, cofl'co, &c., from New
Orleans, when the accident occurred.—
While attempting to make Marshall’s Cut
oil', sixteen miles below l’ino Bluff, she
struck a stump, which toro a ‘arge hole
in her bottom, reaching from her bow
nearly to tho stern. So violent was tho
shock, that her cabin was started from
the timbers which supported it, and in a
few moments slid into the river. The
passengers, of whom there was a number,
were startled from their slumbers, aud
without wailing even to dress, ran out
upon the guards, many of them jumping
into the river in their fright. The fear
ful crash of breaking timbers arousing
them in the dead of night, was enough to
startle them, and the ulmost impenetra
ble darkness which is said to have pre
vailed, and which prevented them from
seeing the extent of their danger, created
Buch a panic that it is a wonder several
lives were ~ot lost. As it was, the boat
was immediately headed to the shore,
and nil the passengers succeeded in reach
ing laud, with the exception of a Mr.
l’urscly, of Dardanelles, of Arkansas, who
was seen to jump overboard, and who
undoubtedly met with a watery grave.
Capt. Albert Thomas, the commander of
tho ill-fated steamer, is said to have done
all that a man could do under the circum
stances. When it was ascertained that
tho boat would certainly sink, she was
headed for tho shore, lines run out and
fastened to trees, and every precaution
taken to presorve the interests of the un
derwriters. She sunk in a very short
time, and tho cabin ilonted off. This was
also secured to the shoro by ropes, aud
lho task of wrecking commenced at once.
It is said that the Traveler had tho big
gest trip ever taken into the Arkansas,
the most of which is seriously damaged,
as the hull, whicli lies sideways with tho
shore, is entirely under water. Tho
Kate May, which mado tho Cut tiff,
brought the Clerk of the Traveler to Na
poleon, from whence lie took a boat for
New Orleans, where tho underwriters re
side.—Memphii Avalanche, IHi It.
Rati Road Iron.
Speaking of Itailrond Iron, wo saw a
very superior article in Cartcrsvilie, a
few days ago, for relaying tho curves on
tho Western N. Atlantic Railroad; it was
tho T iron, not manufactured in Pennsyl
vania, nor in Europe, hut at thu Rolling
Mills near Atlanta, in the State of Geor
gia, from the ore dug out of the Cherokee
Georgia bills, where there is enough to
lay a track to Europe and hack, and fur
nish enough bar iron to supply the South
ern Slates besides. Dr. Lewis, the inde
fatigable Superintendent of the Stato
Road, is getting all bis iron for repairs
on tbut Road from tlie Atlauta Rolling
Mills. Will not all our Southern Rail
road men follow suit ‘! If they will, it
wilt not be long before the puddling mills
will chequer our mountains and bills, and
a uew impetus will be given to the spirit
of enterprise throughout the Southern
