Since the destruction of the large brick Hotel
building by the great fire in our city of the 2vd
uit., the Me Co MB boys have gone to work ener
getically at putting the oid Miiledgevillo Hotel
building in a state of thorough repair. In a very
f*w days it will be thoroughly renovated, com
pletely provided with new furniture, and will be
conducted in a stylo amply satisfactory to the
traveling public. Its patrons will want no better
accommodations than they will find in the old Ho.
tel under the management of the McComb broth
ers. Polite attention to guests, moderate in
charges, and thoroughly experienced in the busi
ness, they wiil be stare to please. In the mean
time the work of rebuilding the mammoth brick
hotel wiil be pushed forward as rapidly as possible.
Another Fire.
On last Friday morning, about 4 o'clock, a small
wooden building near the Tobacco Factory, was de
stroyed by fire. A considerable amount of tobacco,
manufactured and in the leaf, was stored in this Louse,
ell of which was cousumed. Mr. J. P. Sweaney es
timates his loss in tobacco at $2,500. Tlie building,
wo believe, was the property of Mr. R. A. McComb
hfr. Sweaney informs us that there hud been no fire in
tb.a house, that a window was broken open, and be
has no doubt the burning was the woik of an incendi
ary. He also has reason to believe that an attempt
was made tv' ft o the main bunding.
