Fifty dollars’ reward.
TOPED about three months ago, from the under-
J signed a remarkably good looking negro fellow,
named BCIPIO, about 22 or 2d years old, and five
feet nine or ten inches high, lie :s well known in
Milledgeville, on Turtle river and in Savannah, where
he has been occasnrnaily hired out, and in the latter
place has several relations. He was seen in the neigh
boihood of Darien about s:x weeks since in the compa
ny ot two negroes, with a dog and gun. It is supposed
he will make for l-avannah, and endeavor to get on
board some vessel bound to the northern states or to
Europe, as he before attempted to accomplish that ob
ject. Any person apprehending and delnering In into
Messrs. Carnochan & M ichel in Savannah, or to .Janus
H. Giekie in Darien, or u> the subscriber at the Thicket,
Ndlntosh county, shall receive the above reward and all
reasonable expenses paid.

nient landing places on the Oconee and Alatamaha rivers.
The M oot! must be of pitch pine, cut from the bodies
of large trees, of high land growth, and veil seasoned.
Light-wood would be pieferred. Persons willing to
contract for the delivery, atone or more landings, will
send their proposals, specifying the rate per cord and
the name of the landing, its estimated distance from
Darien, Milledgeville, oi some public place. The pro
posals to be addressed cither to Josm-u Hi ich tsti.,
treasurer, at Augusta, or Uuhaki Waim;. Savannah.*

Sheriff’s sales.
On the first Tuesday in December next,
H ill be-sold at the Court-house in this county , between the
usual hours oj 10 and 2 o'clock, the following property,
viz :—
ONE Cow and Calf, as she runs on the commons of
Darien; one bay Horse and one old Sulky, returned
. y James Hamilton in his schedule of insolvency, as his
property, and levied on to sat isfy (so far as they will go)
sundry executions against said Hamilton.
Also, two Negro men, Paid and Boston, levied on as
die property of James Derengcs, deceased, to satisfi
an execution obtained in favor of John Bolton, survivor
of John Jackson, vs. John Wallace, administrator Janies
Derengcs.

Resolved, That from and af.er the passing of this Oi

en, as merchants or shop keepers, shall pay a sue. ol

ness it shall be to grant a licence, allow ing said merchant

PASSED THE 14-th SEPTEMBER, 1818.
Be it ordained, That all free Negroes, Mulattoes, nr
Mustezoes, or any free person of color, reaming ifi ti
the. town of Darien, shall pay tax as follows, viz: fm- •_
