A strong northwest wind forced
an intense heat toward the barber
shop on the east side of the burning
store and soon the place was envelop

the residence of Mr. Parham caught
and before the eyes of a thousand
people the three buildings burned to
ashes.
An attachment was finally made
with the (ire fighting facilities of the
Unity Mill and a powerful pump at
this place enabled the firemen to do
something toward protecting the oth

of the flames.
The fire lasted for about three
hoursi anti the lurid reflection of the
flames could lie spen for miles around.
For a‘ while it Was thought that the
entire mill settlement would be de-,

This is the second disastrous fire,
that has occurred in LaG rang* during
the past week, Callaways Department
Store having been destroyed on
March 9.
