Grover & Baker’s Sewing Machine has been in use
in my fami’y for several months, and has given entire
satisfactk) ■ It does not get out of order, rarely breaks
needles or uiread, or gives trouble or delay in its man
agement. Its simplicity of construction, and the ease
and facility with which it can be used, constitute a
part, of its numerous chief excellencies.

THE reason why, is that by Nature’s own process
it restores the natural color permanently after the
hair becomes gray; supplies the natural fluids, and
thus makes it grow on bald heads, removes all dan
druff, itching, and heat from the scalp, quiets and
tones up the nerves, and thus cures all nervous head
ache, and may be relied upon to cure all diseases of
the scalp and hair; it will stop and keep it from falling
oft"; makes it soft, glossy , healthy and. beaMtiful, and if
used by the young two or three times a week, it wifi
never fall or become gray; then reader, read the fol
lowing and judge for yourself.
New York. ‘Jan. 8,1858.
PROF. O. J. WOOD & CO.
Gentlemen —Having heard a good deal about Prof.
Wood’s Hair Restorative, and my hair being quite gray
I made up my mind to lay aside the prejudice which
I, in common with a great many persons, had against
all manner of patent medicines, and a short time ago
I commenced using your article, to test it for myself.
The result lias been so very satisfactory that 1 am
very glad 1 did so, and in justice to you, as well as for
the encouragement of others who may be as gray as I
was, but wlio having my prejudice without inyreasons
forsetting it aside, are unwUing to give your Restora
tive a trial till they have firther proof, aud the best
pj;oofbeingoccular demonstration, I wrote you this
letter, which you may show to any such, and also di
rect them tonne for further proof, who am in and out
ofthe N. Y. Wire Railing Establishment every day.
My hair is now its natural color and much improved
in appearance every way, being glossier and thicker
and much more healthy looking. I am, Yours Re
spectfully, HENRY JENKINS.
Cor, Columbia, and Carroll Sts. Brooklyn.
Livingston, Ala., Feb. 14, 1858.
Professor Wood —Dear Sire Your Hair Restorative
has done much good in this part of the country. My
iiair lias been slightly diminishing for several years,
caused, I suppose, from a slight burn when I was quite
an infant. I have been using your hairjestorative for
sixAveeks and I find that I have a fine head of hair
growing, after having used all other remedies to no ef
fect. I think it the most valuable remedy now extant,
and advise all who are afflicted that way to use your
remedy. You can publish this if vou think proper.
Yours, Szc. S. \V. MIDDLETON.
Philadelphia, Sept. 9,1857.
Prof. O. J. Wood: Dear Sir—Your Hair Restora
tive is proving itself very beneficial to lfie. The front
and also the back part of my .head, almost lost its cov
ering—was in tact bald. I have used but 2 half pint
bottles of your Restorative, and now the tep ot my
head is vvellstudded with a promising crop of young
hair, and the front is also receiving its benefit. I have
tried other preparations without any beuefil whatever.
I think from my own personal recommendations, I can
induce rhany others to try it.
Yours Resp’ly D. R. THOMAS, M. D.
No. 464 Vine Street.
The Restorative is put up in bottles es 3 sizes, viz—
large, medium, aud small; the small holds % a pint,
and retails for one dollar per bottle; the medium holds
at least twenty per cent, more in proportion than the
small, retails for two dollars per bottle; the large holds
a quart, 4C per cent, more in proportion and retails
for three dollars.

Ayer’s Sarsaparilla
A compoimd remedy, In which we have la
bored to produce the most effectual alterative
that can be made; It is a concentrated extract
of Para Sarsaparilla, so combined with other
substances of still greater alterative power as
to afford an effective antidote for the diseases
Sarsaparilla is reputed to cure. It is believed
that such a remedy is wanted by those who
suffer horn Strumous complaints, and that one
which will accomplish their euro must prove
of immense service to this large class of our
afflicted fellow-citizens. llow completely this
compound will do it has been proven by exper
iment on many cf the worst cases to be found
of the following complaints :
SCROFULA AND SCROFULOUS COMPLAINTS,
Eruptions and Eruptive Diseases', Ulcers,
Puipim'*, Hlotches, Tumors, Salt Riieum,
Scald llkad, Syphilis and Syphilitic Af
fections, Mercurial Disease, Dropsy, Neu
ralgia or Tic Douloureux, Debility, Dys
"Pepsia axd Indigestion - , Erysipelas, Rose
or St. Anthony’s Eire, and indeed the whole
class of complaints arising from Impurity of
the Blood.
This compound will he found a great pro
moter of health, when taken in the spring, to
expel the foul humors which fester in tho
blood at that season of the year. By the time
ly expulsion of them many rankling disorders
are nipped in the bud. Multitudes can, by
the aid of tins remedy, spare themselves from
the endurance of foul eruptions and ulcerous
sores, through which the system will strive to
rid itself of corruptions, if not assisted to do
this through the natural channels of the body
by an alterative medicine. Cleanse out the
vitiated blood whenever yon find its impurities
bursting through the skin in pimples, eruptions,
or sores; cleanse it when you find it is ob
structed aud sluggish in the veins ; cleanse it
whenever it is foul, and your feelings will tell
you when. Even where no particular disorder
is fell, people enjoy better health, and live
longer, for cleansing the blood. Keep the
blood healthy, and all is well; but with this
pabulum of life disordered. there can be no
lasting health. Sooner or later something
must go wrong, and the gicat machinery of
life is disordered or overthrown.
Sarsaparilla has, and deserves much, the
reputation, of accomplishing these ends. But
the world has been egregiously deceived by
preparations of it, partly because the drug
alone lias not all the virtue that is claimed
for it, but more because many preparations,
pretending to be concentrated extracts of it,
contain but little of the virtue of Sarsaparilla,
or any thing else.
During late years the public have been mis
led by large bottles, pretending to give a quart
of Extract of Sarsaparilla for 011 c dollar. Most
of these have been frauds upon the sick, for
they not only contain little, if any, Sarsapa
rilla, but often no curative properties whatev
er. Hence, bitter and painful disappointment
has followed the Use of the various extracts of
Sarsaparilla winch flood the market, until the
name itself is justly despised, and has become
synonymous with imposition and cheat. Still
we call this compound Sarsaparilla, and intend
to supply such a remedy as shall rescue tlio
name from the load of obloquy which rests
upon it. And we think we have ground for
believing it has virtues which are irresistible
by the ordinary run of the diseases it is intend
ed to cure. In order to secure tlicir complete
eradication from the system, the remedy.should
be judiciously taken according to directions on.
