HALL DRESS EH.
• In tho hall room, as well as at the proiue..
nade, we seo costumes, not plain dresses,
worn by all ladies of fashion. A lady studies
cuutuuiu as much ns if she hail to appear iti
some historical play upon the stage. All
must he style— the headdress as well as the
robe*, the olmussure as well as the skirts.—
At present, the fashion of carrying the train
upon the arm Ims not become ns general ns
we imagined it would. Ladies who dance
have prefertodndoplimr the skirls that just
touch the grotiud, uud ladies who do not
dance have allowed their tong trains to
sweep upon the floor in sublime disregard of
the tearing and soiling of exquisite lace and
elaborate trimming 0 . All ball dresses are
rather high m the shoulders but very low in
front, and at tlie back so much so, indeed, ns
to render a lace trimming or low low cliciu*
i set tees inside quite nccossary.
