This Institution, st a .single leap, has
bounded into thcarenaof public favor, and
like a young giant strides among its elders
with a saucy air of defiance and lofty con
sciousness of superior merit.
Wo believe in Southern institutions—par
ticularly Southern Life Iusuranco Compa

have confidence in their honesty, and cun
trust them with what little wo arc able to
lay up for those wo love.
Wo would say nothing to disparage the
good name, or impair the prosperity of any
one of our Southern Companies—they arc
all, in our opinion, good and sufe Institu
tions, and we aro glad to see them flour

Is onr own domostio institution, composed of
our own friends nnd neighbors, and manag

good men and true. Besides, it is as safe ns
any similar institution in tho world. Its
chartered capitnl is $600,000. That amount
has been subscribed and paid in by gentle
men of means and character known to us all ;
aud $100,000 sinking tund has been paid in
to the office of the Comptroller General of
the Stats—an icduccmont to Insurers that no
other Company presents. And ngnin, all
premiums are to bo invested in the SUte—
