AN ACT to providu fcr the call of a
Conveutiou to reduce the number ol
tho General Assembly of iho Slate
of Georgia, and for other purposes
i herein'named.
lie it enacted by the Senate and House
of licpresontatioes of the State of Geor
gia in General Assembly met, and it is
hereby enacted by the au'hority of the
same, r l hat tho first Monday in Aptil,
183S, be, and the same'is lieteby desig
nated and sot apart as the day on which
the citizens of Getogia qualified to vote
for members ot tile‘Legislature, shall at
tho several places prescribed by law f<#r
holding such-elections vote for delegates
to represent thorn in Convention, in num
ber equal to their representation in both
branches ofilie General Assembly; such,
elections to be conducted, managed and
certified older the same law as are of
force in respect to-.elections of members
of the General Assembly.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted , That
it shall be the duty of such managers to
transmit to his excellency the Governor
the result of said elections under the laws
now of force for conducting managing and
certify iivg elections of mernbersof General
Assembly as aforesaid, within 30 days af
ter such elections Whereupon ii is made
the duty of His Excellency the Govern
or to issue his proclamation declaring the
tesuli of said elections by naming the,
individuals severally elected to represent
the good people of Georgia in Convention
as contemplated<by this act.
Sec. 3, And be it further enacted, That
every citizen of the. United States shall be
eligible to a seat in said Convention who
has attained the age of twenty-five years,
and been au inhabitant of this Suite seven
years immediately preceding the day of
hiselection and who shall have resided
one year in the comity fir which ho shall
be elected.
Sec. 4, And be it further enacted, Thai
each member returned as duly elected,
sltajl previous to taking his seat in said
Convention take the following oath, or
affirmation, viz: I, A. B. do solmoly
swear, that I will not attempt to add to,.
or take from the constitution or nilempi
to change or alter any other section,clause
or article <>f the constitution of ths Stain

representation in the General Assembly
(hereof; and that 1 have been a citizen
of this state for the last seven years, so<
help me God. Aud any person elected
to a sewtt in said Convention, who sh ill
refuse to take the oath aforesaid,shall noi
be allowed to take his seat in said Con-’
vention.
#Sec. 5, And be it further enacted, Tllp,

said Convention; and that all laws and
parts of laws militating against this uci,

TO regulate the weighing of Fodder, Hay
and Oats in bundles brought to 'be city of
Augusta in
Sec Ist. Be it drtbtifted by tiie City Council
of Augusta, That ail Fodder, Hay and Oats
brought to this city ir. wagons or carts for sale,
shall be weighed at the scales prepared for that
purpose near «lie lower market.
Sec. 2d. B* it further ordained, Thnt it shall
ae the duty of the clerk of the lower market to
superintend the weighing «f all Fodder, Hay am!
Oats, ift all hours of trie day, from sun rise till
sun set, And tha party selling such Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shall pay to the said clerk’fifty cls
oi each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray.
Sec. 3d Be it further ordained. That every
person who shall violate the provisions of this
Ordinance, may be fined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dollars.
