IIF. diseases of tho hair among us are those

off ofthe hair, and thinness of it—the causes of
which nrwo from muny disorders, especially fe
vers; perspiration, which extends the pores, re-
taxes the roots, causes the hair to fall off, and of
ten occasions total baldness. Baldness has ever
been esteemed a great defect. It generally arises
through violent exercise, from whence arise per*
bpirations, which too frequently occasion a low
ofthe hair—it relaxes tlio roots—the acidity pre
vents the fluid acting on tho hair, which occasion*
it to waste. For instance, after a violent perapi-
ration the hair becomes dry, it feels extremely
harsh, and no elasticity in it whatever; therefore,
to prevent its taking an effect on tho hair, first
rub tho hairdry with o cloth, then apply the Ca»-
