Cotton —For the past few weeks the Cotton
Market has had a declining tendency,
occasionally rallying to a small advance,
oidy to be met by a further decline next
dav. Confidence in the staple has lost
such ground that the speculative demand
lias fallen off very materially. The
manufacturers having in a great measure
supplied themselves lor the manufacture
of Spring stock, there is but little
demand, except for foreign shipment.
Advices from Liverpool, to Bth instant,

20th inst, quote Middling, 89 to4o cents.
Augusta (Ga.) Market, of 22d instant,
quote Middling 30 to 82 cents. We are
pleased to notice by New York advices,
of 22d inst., the arrival of steamer Aus
tralasian, with Liverpool dates of 10th
instant, a very material advance, quoting
Middling Cotton 19 to 19£d,and sales in
New York on same date of 5,000 hales,
with au excited market, at 41c. Wecan
not venture any remarks as to a continual
advance in prices, but have great reason
to believe th it. the present prices will he
maintained, and that next steamer’s ad
vices will give us favorable accounts.
