Buffaloes are plenty on the Plaint. The Si
oux Indians had collected a band of fifty or one
hundred men, for tho purpose of hunting them.
In January while the Sioux were hunting on
the Forks of the Cheyenne, they Were attacked
by a party of Crow Indians, and eight warri
ors were killed on’ each side. The Crows stole
from the enemy one hundred and fifty horses.
The Sioux were preparing to retaliate.
The Yanctons were also preparing for war
with the same parties, in consequence of dep
redations committed by the latter. This war
will probnbly continue all season.
There is reason to fear that parties of Cali

The steamer Cincinnati!* arrived from New
Orleans to-day. Ten deaths by cholera occur
red during the trip—eight in the cabin, two on
deck. Mr. Thomas, the head engineer, also
died.
S3P The Galveston -Nows of the 25th uk
has tho following relative to sugar growing in
Texes:
One of our best, informed merchant* and sugar
planters estimates the sugar crop of Texea next
yearat 10,000 hogsheads, and at 25,000 in five
years sff.er; while in ten years from this time, he
believes the sugar crop of Texas-will equal to
that of Louisiana. This estimate is not made
at randum, but from date that -would probably
satisfy most men*ond remove every reasonable
doubt. Within the last twelve months our
sugar lands have increased in price more- than
during the previous ten years. This advance
is probably from 25 to 40 per cent., and the
operation of the same cause must continue to
produce a similar advance from year to year,
until our fine sugar lauds shall command all
equal price with lands of equal quality in Lou
isiana.
