MORNING NEWS.
The Poor Woman’s Seng.
BY MARY LEMAN GILLIES.
Though lowly my cottage and frugal its fair,
Affection and truth and devotion are there;
And when evening arrives, and the day's toil is o'er,
Then my husband a comes home and I bar up the door,
He goes to the bed where his little ones lie,
And I know the sweet lighttliat then beams in his eye.
And he turns to his supper, whate’er it may be,
With a kindness of heart that is heaven to me.
1 love him too well to repine at my fate—
Frugality still keeps the dun from our gate—
And I hope that our children may rise to repay.
The toils and the sorrows that wear him away.
Oh ! zealous and holy and pure be their youth I
-May they hear from my lips only kindness and truth I
And, when Mercy’s mild messenger bears me from
life,
Leave my memory dear as a mother and wife I
Marriage among the St. John Indians.—
The editor of the Enstport Sentinel thus des
cribes the manner of wooing and wedding among
the St. John (N. B.) Indians, which he learned
on a recent vist to their vilage, near Frederic
ton:
“When a young Indian wishes to take a wife,
—nt which time lie (ms no idea who his copper-
colored companion will be—he makes his wish
known to his parents. The old couple then
consult with the chiefs und matrons of the
village, who discuss the mutter, and decide
uponthe bride. Feasting and ‘pow-wows’ now
commence, during which the candidates for
matrimony are brought together, the bride so
veiled that neithersheor her husband recognize
each other. After marriage, which is attended
with great ceremony, the, couple are separated
for the space of fivedays—'when, the feasting,
&c. being over, they unito p,s man and wife,
and for the first time, each knows to whom
he or she has been linked by the fates. I
believe this custom approximate* very much
to t.1at of the Chinese. Frequently In both
cases I believe, the parents of the bridegroom
are obliged to pay a price, as per bargain, to
the parents who furnish the bride.”

The Weather. The accounts from the coun

A NEW and brilliant light has
lately arisen and now stands high in
the horizon, shedding its golden light
of hope upon the dark despairing minds of the bed
ridden and afflicted with pain, like the bursting forth
of the congenial rays of the sun upon the cold, dismal
regions ot the frigid zone. The three letters which
head this paragraph is the signification of
RADAWAY’S READY RELIEF.
An instantaneous antidote for pains of all kinds, the
very instant Radaway’s Ready Relief is upplied, its
pain-relieving qualities are realized. It will relieve the
most severe pains of Rheumatism, Lumbago, Gout,
Paralysis, Tic Doloreux, &c, in a few minutes.
RHEUMATISM;
Its Cause Treatment and Cure.
All Rheumatic pains instantly cured by Radaway’s
Ready Relief.
Rheumatism arises from different causes, but
most generally proceed from colds, exposure to cold
damp weather. and sleepingin damp apartments. This
complaint is divided into two classes; the firstinfium-
matory, so called from the swelling and inflammation
that attends the pains in the parts affected; second,
Chronic Rheumatism, so called from the long contin*
uance of the disease. It is aiso known ns Lumbago,
sir pain in the back ; Scinticia, or pains in the hip or
groin; Anthrodynia, or pains in the joints. The acute
Kiioumaiieru generally terminates into one of these
and becomes n chrome complaint.
RADAWAY’S SOaP, as a benutifier of the skin. It
surpasses everything offlie kind in the'world. It re
moves Redness, Pimples, Blotches, Pustules, Tetters,
rash. It cures Salt Rhuem, Rii.g Worm, Sore Head,
Sores, Pustular Eruptions. It imparts health to the
akin, and beauty to the complexion. Aar-nurscry and
toilet soap, it is beyond the reach of rivalry, and for
shaving purposes is the best in use. One cake of
Radaway’s Soap will last longer thnn three cakes of
the same size ot nny other soapi n use, therefore it is
the cheapest and best soap in the world. Price 25
cents, laige cakes in engraved wrappers, and the sig
nature R. G. Radawny, upon each wrapper.
Now through the Harem chambers many lights
Of busy shapes proclaim the toilet rights—
While some bring balm from Circassia’s fair,
To dress and beautify their lovely Hair,
Which makes the maids of Circassian sires
Within the breasts of kings pure love inspire.
To dress and beautify the hair,
RADAWAY’S CIRCASSIAN BALM
Is becoming quite popular. In the course of time
it will supersede all other preparations in use.
It cures baldness, strengthens the hair, eradicates
dnndruff, and makes the hair soft, fine, and glossv.
By using the Balm as per directions, it will make ’it
curl beautifully, resembling nature. Price 25 cents,

TEA CULTIVATION IN THE U. STATES.
H AVING received a small supply of TEA NUTS,
collected at great expense of money und labor,
in the middle districts of Chinu, from the most cele
brated Tea Plantations of the Empire, 1 am prepared
to fulfil my engagements by accommodating the pub-
lie with a share of the Nuts received. My main ob-
jeet is to plant and cultivate; but as I am quite cer
tain that I have obtained, after the labor of three
years, the best quality of Tea Nuts, I am disposed to
meet thn wishes of the public, und to share them
with others.—TeuNuts gathered in the neighborhood
of Canton are scarcely worth cultivating, on account
of the inferior quality of the Tea. It is obviously the
interest of the planter to submit to on increased ex
pense, to secure a superior quality of Tea Nut, in es
tablishing a Tea Plantation, whether large or small.
In prosecuting this arduous undertaking, I am in
fuct acting as an agent for the benefit of tlie public.
Neither the State, the public, or uny individual, has
ever extended to me tlio aid of a single cent.
For convenience and security, the Nuts will he
packed in tin boxes, and forwarded from Greenville,
S. C., by such conveyance and to such address as the
purchaser may direct, to any part olYhe U. States.
TEA PLANTS—now on their passage from China,
selected with a single eye to quality, by a gentleman
of large cxjierience in horticultural pursuits, and p r-
haps better acquainted with the character of the Tea
Plant, than any person in Europe or America—will
also he shared with those desirous of obtaining a
small supply.
A specification of the soil bestadnptcd to the growth
of the plant, the mode of planting, cultivating, Ac.
&e., will accompany each parcel.
Application should be made (post-paid) to thd sub
scriber.
