SUPPLEMENT to the Georgia Gazette,

-'V^TOTIGE^is' “hereby~gi ven, That John Cuningham,
fN late of Savannah, Merchant, who has lately re
moved to Great Britain, did; on the fifth dqy of January
last, by deed of alignment, duly executed, transfir and
assign to the subscriber, all mortgages, judgments, special
ties! notes, books of account, and other evidences of debts
due to the said John Cuningham, and to John Cuningham
and Cos. for the purpose of paying and latisfying a judg
ment obtained in behalf of Simpson and Daviion, of London,
Merchants, against the said John Cuningham, urthe Cir
cuit Court of the United States for the Diftria of Georgia,
in the term of April 1796. All persons indebted to the
said John Cuningham, of John Cuningham and Cb. are re
quested to make payment to the subscriber before the ni lt
day of April next, at which time suits will be commenced

A CONCURRED resolution of the ad instant being
presented and read, as follows 1
In the HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES
Friday , the id February , 1798;
The House proceeded to take under consideration the
resolution moved by Mr. Watkins, of the 3iftulimo,
pointing out the method of filling vacancies that may hap
pen in the ensuing Convention, and the fame being read is
as follows:
Whereas a just and equal Representation is infcparable
from the* idea of a free government, and the rights and
happiness of no people can be secure without a due apporti
onment of such Representation: And whereas no provifioh
has been made whereby such just and equal Representation
can be accurately made, ascertained, or apportioned: For
remedy whereof, Be it refilled, That it shall be the duty
of the Captains or Commanding Officers of Militia through
out the state to make out fair and accurate lifts of all free
white persons, as well young as old, residing within the
limits of their refpe&ive company diftrifts, and they are
hereby required to return the fame, duly certified under
their hands, to the Clerks of the Superior Courts of the
several counties, on or before the firft Monday in April
next; and it shall be the duty of the said Clerks to trans-
Jhit, by the bands of the Members of the Convention, all
such returns, under seal, to the President of the Conven
• tion, for the information of that Bodyi
And whereas no mode has hitherto been pointed out for
filling up such vacancies as may happen by the death, resig
nation, or otlierwile, of the Members returned to represent
the state in Convention, Be it refolded , That his Excel
lency the Governor be fully authorized and empowered,
and he is hereby required, to issue writs of election for filling
up such vacancies; provided that no ele&ion shall be held
in any county without ten days previous notice thereof
having been set up in writing at three or more of the moft
public places in the county ; and all such elections shall be
held and conduced, and the returns made, in like manner
and form as is preferibed by law for the eleftion of Memb
ers of the Legislature.
And on the question to agree to the fame it puffed in
the affirmative. Ayes 24; Noes 19.
Ordered , That the Clerk do carry the fame to the Se
nate, and request their concurrence thereto.

TAKEN UP at the fuoferiber’s plantation, Screven
county, on the main road leading ficm Savannah
to Augusta, about the 17th May last, A BAY HORSE,
about 8 or 9 years old, one hind white foot, blaze face,
branded on the mounting fhqulder 26, and on the near
buttock IN, trots and canters, about 14 hands high.

ALL Tax Colleftors, who are in arrears, are requested
to come forward to the Treasury, and make a lettle
ment, by the 25th day of March next* otherwise executi
ons will issue agreeably to law. Sheriffs, who have o
mitted to return their executions, and Clerks of the Courts,
who have not made returns and fettlement* are notified to
do the fame, on or before that day* or the law will be
enforced against them. Receivers of Tax Returns, who
have not sent forward their returns* are desired to depofite
them in the Treasury immediately.
Persons fending packets or letters to the Treasurer by
poll are requested to pay the postage, otherwise the letters
will go on to the General Poftoffice.

AKEN UP in Savannah, A Negro Wench; who
calls herfelf Hannah , and sometimes Kate , and
fays it is two or three years since she ran away from
Charleston, that ftie belonged to the widow of Thomas
Smith* but believes that she has been since fold to fome
person in the country; she appears to be about 25 years
old, of rather a yellow complexion. Whoever she belongs
to may have “her by applying to Matthew Motz, Keeper
of the federal gaol, and paying charges of advertising, &c.

5 feet 9 inches high, and about 35- years of age, fays he
belonged to Mr. John Coxe, deceased.

high, and about 40 years of age, speaks very bad Englifli,
fays lie belongs to one Myer, in South Carolina.
