WHEREAS frauds have been pratified in obtaining
warrants for Bounty La®ds, due to the
and Soldiers of the late Continental Army, by the produc
tion rs forged instruments, to check in future such imposi
tions, it has been thought advisable that all. perfcqs having
claims for Bounty Lands, whether in their own right, as
legal representative, or by virtue of any instrument or deed
of transfer, be required to forward their refpeclive claims
to the War Office, on or before the firft day of January*
1799* U order that such claims may be duly examined,
ad hilled, ana determirltd upon.
1 o substantiate such claim a Uriel oblervance of the rules
heretofore issued from the War Office will be indispensable;
and, in addition to what is required by the said rules, tbe
certificate of the acknowledgment of- a deed or power of
attorney inuft alio set forth tiie place of residence and oc

ledgment; arid, when the proof of periorial knowledge it

ON the petition of ‘lbomas Stone, Hating, tlrat he was
poffelTed of a ceitain bond, signed Williani Harden,
of South Carolina, for the sum of lixteen hundred pounds,
condition for tiie payment of the sum of eight hundred
pounds, bearing date on or about tiie thirteenth day of June,
one thousand ft veil hundred and eighty-two, a copy whereof;
as nearly as the petitioner could recoiled!, was annexed to
the said petition, and lodged in th? Clerk’s office, together
with an affidavit, purfuan: to the adl of Affemßly’ in that
case made and provided; that the said bond was loft or
destroyed; and praying the benefit intended by said adl;
It is ordered, That, on other circumstantial proof being
laid before the Court, the said bond be eftabliffied as di
rected by tiie said adl, the said Thomas Stone publishing a
notice as therein required, and for the space of fix months,
in one of tiie Gazettes of this state, unless cause Ihall be
fliewn to the contrary‘within the said fix months, at othe*
matter {hall appear to the Court againfl the fame. -
