A'manentlv cured by Coster & Coxf.’s original
Soiithfrii 'i'osiic.
Coster & Coxc, the inventors of this celebrated medicine,
from a long residence in the South, and from the nature of their
vocation, have been brought immediately into contact with the
Aoi'ii and Fever in its most obstinate forms, and have fre-
ueut ly been compelled to witness the entire want of success in
the practice of the most skillful physicians. The usual and po
pular mode of treating this disease, has been, first to evacuate
fiie'stomacli and bowels, and then torcsoi ttotbe use of tunics—of
which class of medicines a very great variety have been recom
mended to the public. all of which have bad tlieir advocates,
aud that which has been by far the most popular one, has been
Peruvian Bark and its preparations, particularly that of Qui
nine. There are insurmountable objections to ilie administra
tion of quinine, as to most, individuals, (when carried to a salu
tary point,) it produces a roaring in tlie ears, nausea, aud alu ad-
*ueb, very similar tc a bilious lieadacli; and when it effects a cure
iti* seldom permanent. It was the hope of avoiding this stale
of things that induced us to try the “Southern Tonic,” and we
*r« happy to say that its success has surprised even us. As
ohere is no arsenic, mercury, or any thing in the least hurtful to
the human constitution in it, there can be no objection to the ad-
wiutstrauon of the Southern Tonic to the most tender infant:
indeed, it will be found the most delicate and effective tnedi-
oina known in those cases of disorganized stomach and bowels,
and of general debility, which so ffrequently present themselves
in shildreu. We subjoin the opinions of a few individuals :

The reason I was induced to make a trial of the Tonic, was j

larger doses than what is directed by tlie proprietors. By this ;
means I was enabled to check the intermitting fever, in' every j
instance, where it hail beeu civeii urcording to directions. 1 j
