T HE public, and particularly the Mer

seen with no small degree of aattsfiaetion
the effort made lately by the suhacribers
for tbe transportation of passenger! and
news between the two cities, in a.much
shorter time than has been usually taken for
that conveyance. It would be ungrateful
not to acknowledge the almost universal
support we have received since- our
commencement—.but have been to much
trammelled by the exclusive right of Ste
phen Pearce that we have been compelled
to abandon the Georgia side of the river and
-iperaiein South Carolina. ' We have- pro
cured the use ot the steam-boat Carolina,
and a person-qualified in all respects toman-.
age her—we can therefore, with confidence
guarantee the public that her trips ts and
from Purysburg will be regular. In con-'
junction with tne Boat, our lino of Stages'
will operate three times in each week, fend
ing passengers in the short space of 24 hours
in each city. Our operations are (com
