Duties more imperative than usual now be

Hesolved, That a committee he appointed to
draft a petition to the Governor ol' Georgia to
call the Lcg.slulure together; for the purpose
of ojtei'iilg the laws on the subject «.I hs.tmg
notes, so as to enable the city of Savannah o
form an institution bottomed on the faith and
funds of the city, to arhance to persons w ho are
inclined to build good and sufficient fire-proof
stores in (lie city ; they mortgaging the lots ami
buildings to the institution, and the money ud-
vuieed to he applied exclusively to the erect
ing of fue.proo*' buildings. *

and minute statement of the loss sustained by
the people of Savannah, together w ith a full ac
count of the sums necessary to he advance J lor
the relief of the distressed sufferers shall he for

pass an act to appropriate the entire county lax
not hitherto appropriated for the years 1820

the City Council of Savannah, to aff ord places
of refuge for the unfoliunate persons who have
suffered from our distressing calamity, inform
them that, by an application to either of the
committee, ora line addressed to the Mayor
and left at the Folicc-Uffice, their application*
will be immediately attended to, not only as to
rooms for their afflicted families, but also w ith
