tendered to council in the most liberal and phi
lanthropic manner the u.«e of the barracks, his
private property, for Hie-sufferers who were
houseless, which was accepted.

Resolved, That a committee be appointed to
ditfft a petition to the Governor of Georgia to
call the Legislature together; for the purpose,
of altering tlitf law's oil the subject of issuing*
notes,-so us to ..enable ate city of Savannah o
form an institution bottomed on tiie faith and
funds of the city, lo advance to persons who are
inclined to build good and sufficient fire-proof
stores In the city;, they .mortgaging the lotsund
buildings to the institution, and the money ad-
vnneed to be applied delusively to the erect
