W The Savannah Republican, not content
Ifritti attending to the affaire of it* own party,
lnunt needs iutorfere with those of this Demo-
Jcralic party. It haa vouchsafed to give ua this
morning the Democratic nominee for Mayor,
bn doing this, great injustice has been done to
Joiie gentleman, by bringing his name before
the public without any manner of authority.
Tho Republican has, as oBual, made two mis
takes, and really we are almost tired of cor
seting. The name of the gentleman which
i been so unwarrantably used is Mr. George
A. Gordon, and not George W. This is the
(first; and the second is, that he is not the
candidate of the Democratic party for Mayor.
Hr. Gordon I* absent from the city, and surely
will not be very much pleased at an act for
jwhicb lie will have to thank the editor of the
Republican.

The force of the hurricane atSagun In Grande

Yellow Fever In Charleston.
Office Board of Health I
Thursday Night, 10 o’clock. )
The Board of Health report eight deaths
from yellow fever for tho past tweniy-four
hours.
J. L. Dawson, M. D.,0. H,
It will bo seen by the report of the Board of
Health that there haa been a considerable in
crease in the deaths by Yellow Fever, as might
have been imficiputwi from the unfavorable
character of tho weather for several days past.
Wo woidd suggest, us u mutter of Common pru
dence nt this time, that unacelimateil persons
should carefully avoid all unnecessary expo
sure, either by night or day; and would re
mark that»too frequent cause of disease is the
attendance of such persons upon funerals, es
pecially when involving a walk of one or two
miles under a broiling sun. This should be
avoided as much as possible.---Mercury of yet
