thoughtless partisan seemed a sad mockery in

who had seen a poor fellow mortal so suddenly,
and without even a moment’s warning, hurried
Into eternity.
Soon after this accident tho crowd repaired
to the spot In the vicinity of the town, where
the stands far speaking were erected. The
scene was a lively one. The place swarmed
with men, women and children, who clustered

Hts lugubrious visage and fun ranking oyc, to

hia features were enveloped, gave him a really
comic almanac appearance. Being n good
mimic, he seemed to delight In Imitating the
shrill voice of Hon. Alexander H. Stephens,
whom he made tho chief butt of his ludicrous
performance. Among other extravagances of
Mr. Wright, we could not forbear entiling
the gravity with which he' told tho

CnuROH^-The session of the Triennial Con*

the United States commenced In Philadelphia
Wednesday, in St. Lake’s Church. Divine ser
vice was celebrated, and an eloanont sermon
preached by Bishop Doane, of New Jersey;
after wtiich tbe bishops withdrew to their
chamber, and the House of Clerical and Lay
Deputies was organized by the reflection of
Dr. Oreigbton president, and Dr. Hone secreta-

The Convention, it is said, will have tinder
consideration matters of nnusual interest. Be*
sides the qnestion of the restoration of Bishop
Onderdonk, of Pennsylvania, that of liberal*
Izingthe lltbergy will engage their attention*
A correspondent of the Herald says:
A new party has lately sprung up lu the
piscopal church, which bids fair to sweep
away the old landmarks, and to break down
both tho old factions of high chnrch and low
chnroh. It is called the Broad Ohnrchpartr
and is well officered, and counts In Its rani
much of the young blood and active zeal of
tho chnrch. Iu Shibboleth to The Memo
rial, H presented three years ago by Dr. Mnbl*
euburg and others, and its creed u “ rubrical
relaxation.” “abridged services,” “smaller
bishoprice” and 1 * church charities.” The old
jhurch party, under the Ieadofthe Churchman,
give it no quarter, and the old low church
tarty, headed by the Protectant Churchman,
[enounces it lustily.
