Ordinance to increase tbo m'ary of the Health
officer of tho City of Savannah, and tlx his foes
for boarding voxels uud for giving a certificate
for health or permit to come to the city aud dis
charge their loads, amt for other purposes:
Whereas, from the increased commerce of the
nort of Savannah the duties of the Health Officer
has greatly increased, aud the salary 1ms not been
creaecd during tho last thirty years:
See. 1. Bo It ordained by tho Mayor unit Aider-
men of tho City of Savannah and the Hamlets there
in In Council as embied, aud It is horeby ordained
by the authority of the same, That from and after
the passage of this Ordinance the salary of the
Health Officer be at the rate of five hundred dol
lars.
Bee. 2. Be it further ordulucd by the Mayor aud
Aldermen ofthe City of Savannah and tbo Hamlets
thereof iu Council assembled, und it is hereby or-
dalned by authority of tho same, Ihat the foes of
tho Health Officer (which shall be paid by tho
owner, master, or consignee or any vessel) shall
ho as follows:
For boarding any vessel lyiug ut the quarantine
ground, at Fort Jackson, two cents a tou up to 600
tone, beyond which no additional fee shall be
charged Jn case of a visit at night the fees charged
shall 00 double the proceed ug; and all oxpeust-s
incurred for boarding any vessel shall be paid by
tbo Health Officer, except that the city will furnish
a quarantine boat.
For visiting und inspecting a vessel which has
been subjected te quarantine, and giving a permit
to come up to the city, live dollars.
Hpc. 3. Be it farther ordained by the authority
aforesaid. That in case it shall ho deemud necessary
by the Health Officer to send a nationt to tho Fed
ilouae from tho vessel, it ?ha’l bo done by the
