Die frauds perpetrated by diaries B. Hunting-
ton, the note broker, are still causing consider
able excitement among tho business community
more especially as new forgeries are daily
being discovered. Tljo aggregate amount of
these forgeries, so far as known to the autlio-
nties, is $85,700, but this sum it is thought will
not cover one fourth of them. Many lirnis it
ia rumored, who have lost large sums by dis
counting the forged paper, keep the matter
•i'licL fearing to injure their credit by an ex-
|kmv. The case is now under examinat ion before
Justice Osborne, aud in addition to the testi
mony taken on Haturday,an affidavit was made
by Mr. Wm. II. Hurbeck, of the tirm of liar-

tliut his firm loaned money to Huntington on
our promisory notes purporting to have
wen made by Phelps, Dodge &0<»., a.id
amounting to $21,500, all of which are forgeries.
Other firms besides those already reported
are said to have been imposed upon with the

mngs, A Co., who hold ouo of tho notes for
$15,08.8; Ubsdeii, Pierson fy Lako hold a note
mr $5/,84 (Ujfcsackott, Belcher A Co., one for
$8,549.
