Whereas, from tho increased commerce of the
port of Savannah tho duties of tho Health Officer
has greatly increased, and the salary has not beo„
creased during tho last thirty yeurs :

men of tho City or Siivonnah and tho Hamlets there
in in Council as embied, and It is horeby ordained
by tho authority of tho same, That from and after
tho possago of this Ordinance tho salary or tho
Health Officer bo at tho rate of flvo hundred dol
lars.

Alder men of tho City ol‘Savannah and tho Hamlets
thoroof iu Council assembled, and it Is hereby or
dained by authority or tho samo, That the fees of
tho Health Officer (which shall ho paid by tho
owner, master, or conslgnco of any vessel) shall

For boarding any vessol lying at tho quarantine
ground, at Fort Jackson, two cents a ton up to 600
tonf, beyond which uo additional fee shah bo
ohargod In case of a visit at night tho fees chorgod
shall oo doublo tho proceed ng; and all expenses
Incurred for boarding auy vossol shall bo paid by
tho Health Officer, oxcopt that tbo city will furnish
aquarantinoboa*.
For visiting and inspecting a vos«el which has
boon subjected to qunrantlno, and giving a permit
to como up to the city, flvo dollars.

aforesaid. That lu case it shall bo deemed necessary
by tho Health Officer to soud a patient to tho Post
