Mr . Speaker, and Gentlemen of the Assembly,
! DO hereby adjourn the Commons House of Assembly until Tuefdav
the firll day of May next, then to meet for the dispatch of business, and
it is-accordingly adjourned to the firll day of May next.

Mr. Milledge, from the committee appointed to prepare and bring in
an ordinance for appointing, an Agent to solicit the affairs of this province
in Great-Britain, to commence the firll day of J-une next, and to continue
for one year, reported they had prepared the fame, which was received
and read the firft time.
The engrofled bill, entitled. An Acl for appointing InfpeTors if Tobacco,
andUprevent the Exportation of bad and unmerchantable-Tobacco, was read a
third time.
Refalvtd, That the bill do pass.
Qrderk, That Mr. Crooke do carry the said bill to the Tapper Koofe,
and desire their concurrence.
Ordered, That Mr. Crooke do carry the bill, entitled, An AM for grant
ing to bit Majefiy the sum of 5/. gs. for the Use and Support of the Go
vernmtnt of Georgia for the Tear 1770, to be railed at certain Rates and after the
Method therein mentioned ; for the mope eje final colltaing of Arrian ; and for ex
empting the Parijßts of St. David, ’ St. Patrick, St. Thomas, and St. Mary,
they not being reprejcr.u a nd; to the Upper House, and desire their concurrence,
A memorial from Thomas Moodier, Deputy Secretary, whose name is
fqbfcribed, was presented to the House, and read, setting forth,
has afted as Deputy Secretary of this province since
jipfanuarv 1765, and he hopes to the fatijfaftion of all concerned :
Houfe of Assembly has hitherto been pleased to pro
tidlffim a sum for doing publick business not exceeding 601. payable the
|th September every year, and folate as the year 17 67, as will appear
bythf several Tax Afts : That, ftnee that time, they have only provided
yearly the fort of 40k for the said business: These provisions were made
in order to pay him for business done to the 29th September in each year:

Savannah in the sum of 2001. 13s. 4d. and also to empower the Trea
surer to issue certificatesfor the sum of iool. 6s. Bd. to be funk in thd
next general Tax Aft, for supporting a watch in the town of Savannah*
reported they had prepared the feme, which was received and read the
firft time, and ordered to be read a second time.
The ordinance for re-appointrng Benjamin Franklin, Esq. Agent to
solicit the affairs of this province in Great-Britain, to commence the firll
day of June next, and to continue for one yea 1, was read a third time.
Rejolvcd, 7'hat the ordinance do pass.
Ordered, That Sir Patriek Honftoun do carry the said ordinance to thf
Upper House; as>d desire their concurrence.
A me/Tagc from the Upper House by the Mafier in Chancery: That
the Upper House agrees to the conference desired by this House ota the a
nu ndments made by their House to t&e engrofled bill for laying out a road
in the parish of St. Philip, and empowering coramifEoners to establish
ferries, 4c. 4c. and have named a committee for that purpose", and do
appoint the fame to be'held in the room adjoining the Council-Chamber
immediately. Committee James M*Kay and Janies Read, Efqrs.
Ordered, That Mr. Le Conte, Mr. Farley, and Mr. Gi Xmc, be a cent*
mittce to join the committee of the Upper Hoafe in the said conference*
and accordingly they went to the said conference, and being returned, Mr.
Grxme reported” they had joined the committee of the Upper House in
conference on the amendment made to the said bill, and had agreed to the
fame, which he was direfted to report to the House, and he read the report
in his place, and afterwards delivered the fame in at the table, where it
was again read and agreed to by the House.
Ordered, That Mr. Grxme do carry the bill to the Upper House, and
acquaint them that this House agrees to the report of their committee of
conference.
A message from the Upper House by the Mallei’ in Chancery: That
the Upper House desires that they may have laid before them thecorre4
fpondence that has pafled between Mr. Benjamin Franklin and the pub*
Hck during the time he has been appointed Agent for this province.
Ordered , That the Upper House tye fornilhed with the fame.
The House took under consideration his Excellency the Governor's mef*
sage No a, of the 7th of November last, and
Ordered, That a commitfce be appointed to draw up an address in an
Aver to the said meffage,* and a committee was appointed accordingly.
Committed to Mr. Le Conte, Mr. Andrew, Mr. Grxme, Mr. Crooke*
and Sir Pat/ick Houftoun.
Ordered , That his Excellency the Governor's message be referred to tße
said committee. -
And then the House adjourned till to-morrow morning, nine of the
clock.

The bill for empowering commiflioners to assess the inhabitants of the
town of Savannah in the sum of zool. ys. 4d. and also to empower the
Treasurer to issue certificates for the sum of iool. 6*. Bd. to be funk by
the next general Tax Aft, for supporting a watch in the town of Savannah*
was read a'fecond time, and ordered to be committed.
A message from the Upper House by the Master in Chancery : That
the Upper House have agreed to the engrofled bill, /or granting to hi
Majesty the fom of 33551. 9. *d. for the use and fuppert of the go
vernment of Georgia for the year 1770, to be raised at certain rates and
after the method therein mentioned ; for the moreeffeftual cellefting of
arrears; and for exempting the pari flies of St. David, St. Patrick, St.
Thomas, and St. Mary, they not being reprefenred, without any

ments : That the l pper House have also agreed to a bill, entitled, Ant
AT for appointing Jnfptifors of Tobacco, and to prevent the Exportation of bad
and mature hunt able Tohaeeo, without amendment; That the Upper House
have also agreed to IjHbrdinance for re-appointing’ Franklin,
Esq. Agent to foKcit the affairs of this province in Great-Britain, to com
mence the firft day of J une next, and to continue for ooe year, with fom#
