bountiful in their hospitality as the holi

Two white men were remanded to De-
Kalb Court for trial for stealing two bales
of cotton at the railroad depot in Deca-
tur.
James Sktdbs.—Cspt. Anderson was
solicited to arrest Bkyles on Tuesday
evening, so that he might be carried (o
Dade count; on the 11 o'clock train. He
objected, urging that he should not he
dragged away from bis home suddenly
as be has treated others. This sugges
tion was adopted.
It is true that Skylea went to the Bar
racks and tried to claim military protec
tion from civil arrest and trial, hut it was
refused. J .

being given by the ladies of the Pint
Methodist ChnrcU will be continued

ly. Notwithstanding tho time was short,
there was a grand rally of the Democracy
of old Putnam, proving conclusively that
ttio Democrat* heartily indorse the course
pursued by our Legislature. Tho groat
majority of tho negroes boro did not
but we wore glad to aoo sonic sensible
colored men, who know their interest, go
up and vote witli their white frienda for
an honest man.
Our town hna been considerably ex
cited for the last two or throe days ovur a
case of small-pux. It was a Swede who
bad tbo foul disease; but she is dead sud
