Christmas at Noucuoss.—Yesterday a
party of young men left Atlanta, on the
Air Lino train, for the above place. Af
ter a short rule over that most excellently
managed road, we wore mot by “ Cousiu
John Thrasher” at tho depot, who oon-
duoted us to his hotel, which, in a very
short time, has gained a most cu viable aud
well-moritod reputation as the best coun
try hotel in the State. “ Cousin John”
is a natural born host, and his accom
plished lady kuows exactly how to enter
tain her guest*.
After a most sumptuous supper, at
which the substantial* vied with tho deli
oacies, dancing was announced, oud, for
the first time, we were permitted to pass
judgment upon the boasted beauties of
the Norcroes ladies; and the realisation
up fully to our most sanguine ex
pectationa. To enumerate the many and
varied ohanui of the fair dancers, is
talk which your correspondent feels in
adequate to discliargc, but will content
myself with the mere mention of
few names. Tho Misses Mc.s sped like
fairies through the mazes of the dauoe, and
by tlieir captivating manners carried ev
erybody by storm, the accomplished Misses
S. contributed a%rge share to tho even
ilgV entertainment, and wjll be long re
fucohered by oil. The Misses Th's., V.
and R. all looked their prettiest, and
from several remjtkfe, -which your corree
earned away their oor-

Our ui'.y furofihed her quota oft eauty
la tba penoui of the fair Misses M.,
if tome of the Atlanta boys do not
look after their interest, some of the Nor-
young men may play destruction
with their hopes.
At eleven o’clock, “Cousiu John,” called
the assembly to order, bade them retire
to their respective horn cs to meet again
Sparks’.
Thus closed one of ike moot delight
ful parties we ever attended. All left,
convinced that Ncrcrom lias the prettiest
ladies, and Cousin John is a capital ho
tel keeper. *

The Grand Opera—Third Night.—
Martha, the master-piece of the German
composer, Flotow, was rendered last even
ing ut DeUivc’s by tho Formes-Habel-
mann troupe, with thrilling, effect to an
audience composed of tho fashion and
musical talent of the city. This serio-
j comic opera, the moBt popular of Flo-
tow’s works, possesses many exquisite
lyrics familiar to ail. M'lio. Itosetti sang
“The Last Rose of Summer” with such
touching pathos that many iu the audi
ence were unublo to restrain the rising
tears; and as for W. Formes, tho pro-
fuuudesfc basso on the Southern stuge, lie
executes with magic effect his humorous
role.
The closing scene last evening was one
of tho noblest outbursts of stately melody
we ever had the pleasure to hear.
To-night—the last—will be presented
Dor Freyschutz, the chef d'erurre of Carl
Von Weber. It is the gala night, and
we predict will bo the crowning effort of
tho week.
