Mr. Brown opposed the reconsideration ot the
bill—Wo bsd a better Iron country than Pennsylva
nia, while et the seme time the iron Interest of the
tttaio wee worth more than two, or three times the
cotton crop of Georgia. It needed a stimulant to
anoourage capitalists to embark in this business,
this was done it la easy to perceive that Georgia
must become one of tbe richest States In tho Union.
From thoae States which followed this plan a lesson
could be learned by ne to our practical benefit.
Mr. bteauman, also, hoped that rtoonelderatlen
would opt be allowed. Tue object of this bill waa
. to diversify our pursuits. 1* waa taaglble evidence
to capitalists of anr o»a and of foreign countries

Mr. Reese thought the law a good one. It was a
bill la whieb lees trouble and less expense was in
curred than la any other plan. He had tested the
practical workings of the plan by making aaU/uates,
would prove a convenience to the tax-payers. The
law, as It stood at the last session, was a practical
confiscation of all wild lands, etc.
Mr. Elbbee opposed reconsideration. He had In
troduced a bill at tbe last seamen which had f
object the payment of the taxes lu the com .
which the land lav, end to giro them tho right to
aeeeae tbe tax, and in the event the land was sold It
might be sold in tbe county. He wee of tho opinion
that instead of simplifying the peyment ef the taxes
It had worked as a hardship, and he favored tha bill
