Sidewalk Ub.tractlonr. Complaints reach as occasionally of tbe great inconvenience occasioned to the public by abstractions plaoed on sidewa'ka, either in the shape of old packing cases, old barrels or unseemly looking and filthy abicken coops. This should not bo allowed by the proper autboritirs, aod tbe latter nuisance should be sbeted at ones. Yesterday we were reminded of a very eerions an noyance to pedestrians, and one that may lead to consequences not pleasant to the parties oencerned. We refer to the practice of blocking up stroets and Hide- walks and rendering them almost im passable for a longer time than is 'hoces- u<7 by persons building or improving property. On the west side of Washing ton street, near the Baptist Church, there is % cose of this kind at present, where on one side there is a large pile of brick and on the other a deep hole, leaving very little room for a person co pass, and exceedingly dangerous for pe destrians on dork nights. Care is ueoes- sary in tuoh cases, or some one will get hart, while somebody else may get male led in heavy damages. A Bridal Party. Mr. Jobu J. Callaway, a young at torney at law, recently wedded to the aooomplithed Miss — Phelan, of Memphis, Tennessee, daughtor of the late ex-Senator i'helan, of Mie- siss ppi, were at the Kimball House day before yesterday, ou a bridal tout{ but we were not aware of the fact anti! too late for a notioe yesterday morn ing. Mr. Callaway is a native of Ogle thorpe county ia this State—tbe son of George W. Callaway. After tbe war the am] sought hia fortuuo in Louisville, Ky., where he pursued the study ot law, and where he ia rapidly rising in his pro fession. It was with pleasure we mot him and hia oharming wife, enjoying all the happinesa of a "honey-moon." May oontinued joy and lung life atteud them. He haa many “boon companions" in the late war, who will, doubtless, .ie glad to hear of his well-being and future pros- poets. _ iskii maiueatex. SCPXKICB COURT.
