is offering a modular CPR
course to be held Sept. 29
and 30 at the Red Cross
F ounders building in Gaines
ville. The course hours will
be from 6 to 10 p.m. each
night.
A modular CPR instruc
tor’s course will be held Fri
day, Oct. 10, at the Red
Cross Founders building
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This
course is open to anyone
with- a current Red Cross or
Georgia Heart Association
card

apply for social security
benefits at the county court
house from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
on the following dates
through December: Oct. 10-
17, Oct. 24-31, Nov. 14, Nov.
21-28, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19-26.

One may apply for retire
ment benefits three months
before retirement age. Medi
care may be applied for
three months before age 65,
even if the person is not re
tiring. Disability or survi
vors benefits may be applied
for immediately.
When applying for bene
fits, one should bring his so
cial; security card, some
proof of age, a record of the
previous year’s earnings, an
estimate of your earnings
for 1980, and proof of family
members’ ages (if they will
be applying for benefits) and
their social security num
bers.
Supplemental security in
come (SSI) should be ap
plied for when one reaches
age 65 or becomes blind or
disabled.
The Gainesville branch of
the Georgia Social Security
office, located at 100 Brenau
Avenue, is open from 9 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Fri
day, except on national holi
days.
