Roswell’s 14th Arts Festival Is Scheduled Sept. 20 - 21
More than 370 Regional
artists will display their
work in the 14th annual Ros
well Arts Festival on Sept. 20
and 21 on Roswell Square.
The artists will compete
each day from noon to6p.m.
for more than $l,lOO in prize
money, including a $l5O Best
of Show award.
George Mallett, a teacher
of sculpture at Georgia State
University, will judge sculp
ture, pottery and crafts. So
teris Sam Roussi , who
teaches drawing , painting
and composition at Georgia
State, will judge painting,
water color and photogra
phy. Win Crannell, a draw
ing and painting teacher at
North Georgia College, will
judge children’s art.
Craftsmen from six states
will display wood carving,
macrame, basketry, stained
glass, planters, jewelry,
pocketbooks, crochet, plas
terware, pottery and stuffed
pillows and animals’ Natu
ral and silk flower arrange
ments will be featured, as
will etched and printed
glass, puppets, scrimshaw,
dolls, plaques, rocks, bread
dough, and leatherwork.
Hostesses will help brows
ers purchase water colors,
etchings, acrylics, oil paint
ings, batik, graphics, pho
tography and sculpture.

Nurses
Gainesville Junior College
is studying the possibility of
offering a refresher course
for registered professional
nurses who want to be re
certified.
The college wants hospi
tals, nursing homes and
other health care facilities to
support the program by
helping to plan the curric
ulum and providing staff
support for clinical training.
Anyone interested in help
ing to plan the course or in
taking it should contact Da

continuing edcation at the

Energy
Workshop
Sept. 30
Georgia industrial rep
resentatives can learn ways
to lower the energy costs of
their respective companies
at a workshop in Gainesville
on Sept. 30 and in Calhoun on
Oct. 21.
“Industrial Energy Con
servation” will run from 9
a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with regis
tration beginning at 8:30
a.m. The dates and locations
are: Tuesday, 30 at the
Georgia Mountains Center in
Gainesville. Tuesday, 21 at
the Holiday Inn, Redbud
Road and 1-75, Calhoun. The
workshop fee will be $15.00,
which includes the cost of a
luncheon and handbook.
The seminar is sponsored
by the Appalachian Regional
Commission and the Georgia
Office of Energy Resources,
and will be conducted by
Georgia Tech’s Engineering
Experiment Station.
The workshop is designed
for plant managers, and en
gineering and maintenance
personnel who are responsi
ble for the day-to-day opera
tion of the plant. The
purpose of the workshop is to
examine energy systems
common to industry and
look at potential areas for
energy conservation.
Topics to be covered in
clude energy management,
steam systems, heat recov
ery, lighting, electrical de
mand, heating, ventilating
and air conditioning.
