horseback riding
Youth and Adult English and West
ern Pleasure Horseback Riding les
sons will begin June 5 at Sunny Sta
bles on Hwy. 369. The classes will be
held Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Cost for six lessons will be be SBS
The lessons will cover the basic fun
damentals of riding and horseman
ship. Safety, grooming, tack, walk/trot/
canter will be covered. Helmets will
be provided. Tracy Marcotte is the
instructor.

Kids Camp at
City Park
This is a camp for children age 4. 5
and 6 who have not yet entered the
first grade.
The camp is structured for pre
schoolers, providing them with a safe,
well-organized and fun-filled week
Because young campers have a
shorter attention span and are not
ready to focus for long periods of time
on one activity, this camp runs from 9
a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The fee is $35 and includes a camp
T-Shirt, arts and crafts supplies, pro
gram materials, refreshments and
special activity fees. Campers will en
joy field trips to nlaces such as the
Yellow River Wildlife Game Ranch,
Sho-Biz Pizza and Zoo Atlanta. Chil
dren also will swim each day under
the supervision of trained lifeguards.
Tennis shoes are required.
The first session is Goofy Olympics
Week (June 11-15). The remainder of
the schedule is as follows: Wet & Wild
Week (July 9-13), Wild, Wild West
Week (July 23-27) and Double Dare
Week (July 30-Aug. 3).

vitt forced her at second on a fielder’s
choice. Tracy Craddock kept the
streak alive with another single and
then Melissa Farmer’s grounder was
bobbled, allowing Kevitt to score
what became the winner
“Cumming played us a great
game,” said Harrison. “We came
back with some key hits and were
able to play some strong defense in
the other innings. I was real proud of
the way the girls came back and got
the job done.”
Harrison has reason for his
hesitancy.
This is the same team only won
three games last year.
Harrison, Lisa Croy, Davis and Ke
vitt are the only four players that are

Mathisa were named to the 10-under
all star team, a squad which went on
to win a state Georgia Recreation and
Parks Association (GRPA) champion
ship. Harrison, Croy and Davis were
also members of that 10-under state
championship team.
The team is on the steps of making
it big again.
Harrison, who pitches when not
playing outfield or infield, currently
leads the team in hitting with a .900
average. That mark is not fluke as she
led Friendship last when with a 888

shortstop, is next at .700. Ballard, who
can play first or third, when not pitch
ing or playing in the outfield, is a .550
Croy (outfield, second base) and
Craddock (second, third, outfield and
pitch) are both hitting .500.
“We re being productive and en
joying ourselves at the same time,”
said Harrison. “We’ve won some
pretty big games but that doesn’t
mean we can afford to stop here.”
Currently there is a three-way tie
between Cumming Red, Midway and
Daves Creek for second.
“Somebody always trying to gain on
you,” said Harrison. “You just can’t
look back. You have to keep playing
your game.”
