Former Vice President Mike Pence made a stop by Cumming Cigar
Company on Tuesday, Nov. 1 with Gov. Brian Kemp's re-election bus
tour.
FROM 1A
Pence
Development magazine’s No. 1 state
for business for the ninth consecutive
year and said Kemp’s re-election would
be part of a “great American comeback
that goes straight through Georgia.”
“Georgia has the best business climate
in America, and I think people see they
have a governor that shares their values,
shares their commitment to opportunity
and jobs and growth, a commitment to
law and order,” Pence said. “We’re a
week away from a great victory here in
Georgia for Gov. Brian Kemp, and a vic
tory that’s going to send a message all
across the country that strong, principled
conservative leadership has a home in
Georgia, and I think you are going to see
those results across America in the days
ahead.”
In a press conference following the
campaign stop, Kemp said he felt
Republicans were better prepared for
Tuesday’s election than the presidential
and Senate races in 2020.
“We lost, I think, the 2020 race
because we didn’t have a good ground
game in the state, and we have one now,”
Kemp said. “We’re not finished with that.
We’ve got to continue working the rest of
the week until polls close on Tuesday.
Pence is the latest big-name
Republican to make a stop in Forsyth
County in recent weeks, after Senate can
didate Herschel Walker was joined by
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South
Carolina, on a campaign stop in north
Forsyth on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The Cumming Cigar Company will
have another big-name Republican on
Monday, Nov. 7, when former U.S. Sen.
Kelly Loeffler will be at the Citizens for
a Greater Georgia Forsyth Force rally
from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to “rally to turn
Forsyth County out in force for Election
Day.”

Walker leads Warnock
by 5 points in new poll
By Steve Wilson
The Center Square
A new poll by
Rasmussen Reports gives
Republican challenger
Herschel Walker a 5-point
lead over Georgia
Democratic U.S. Sen.
Rafael Warnock in their
race, one of several pivotal
to control of the U.S.
Senate.
The key demographic for
Walker is independent vot
ers, which he leads
Warnock by a 14-point
margin, 49% to 35%. And
this despite Warnock’s
three dollars to every dollar
the former Heisman
Trophy winner’s campaign
has raised.
The same poll of 1,053
of likely Georgia voters
offers more good news for
Republican Gov. Brian
Kemp. His lead is 51% to
41% over Democratic chal
lenger Stacy Abrams. Like
with Walker, unaffiliated
voters are breaking in a big
way, 49% to 32%, for the
incumbent.
Warnock Walker
On a generic ballot ques
tion for Congress, 49% of
respondents said they’d
vote for Republicans while
39% said they’d vote for a
Democrat. President Joe
Biden, a Democrat, carried
the state over Republican
former President Donald
Trump by the slimmest of
margins, 49.5% to 49.3%,
in 2020; in 2016, Trump
rolled past Democrat
Hillary Clinton 50.8% to
45.6%.
Rasmussen’s poll was
conducted Sunday and
Monday. The margin of
error is 3 percentage points
and level of confidence
95%.
The Rasmussen poll
shows a race that is moving
toward Walker after being
considered a dead heat a
week before.
According to an aggre
gation of polls on
RealClearPolitics,
Warnock leads the race
by 2 percentage points in
the Insider Advantage
and East Carolina
University polls, but
Walker leads in the
Rasmussen and DW/
Trafalgar polls.
Walker is far behind in
cash disparity. According
to data from the Federal
Election Commission from
Sept. 30, Warnock has
raised more than $111 mil
lion, while Walker has
raised more than $37 mil
lion as of Oct. 19. For those
keeping score at home,
Walker has raised 33.3% as
much as the first-term
Democratic senator.
That mirrors Warnock’s
$125 million haul in 2020,
when he outpaced then-
U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler,
who raised more than $92
million.
Warnock then beat
Loeffler by 93,000 votes in
a Jan. 5, 2021 runoff.
FROM 1A
ATM
While on the scene, officers spoke with
a witness, who said he had witnessed the
theft about 15 minutes before officers
arrived while resting in a box truck at a
Wendy’s restaurant next to the bank.
The witness reportedly told officers he
had been resting for about an hour when
he heard a loud bang, which he thought
was someone attempting to break into his
truck.
“[The suspect] then observed three
males wearing ski masks and dark cloth
ing,” the officer said in the report. “The
males were in a white, older model Ford
truck... [The suspect] also witnessed the
occupants of the truck stepping out of the
truck and ripping out the ATM using the
truck and leaving the area.”
No arrests have been made as of press
time, and the case is still active and open,
FCSO officials said.
