■proposals to build several bridges in ltus
sell county, Ala. Among them is the
bii-lgo over tho creek in Girard. Wo
hope that a contract for this bridge will
bafpoedily made. It i« one of interest to
this city and of importance to many of
tho people of Kusrtdl county who come
here to trade or on other business. The
present route across the creek to the bridge
over the river i- a very winding way to
pT.-ons coining in or going out by the
Crawford, Salem or West Point roads. In
a Idition to this, the winter rains will soon
make the route now traveled almost im
passable for loaded vehicles. We trust
that a liberal bid for this bridge will be
m*de by some one competent to construct
it expeditiously, and that the approac h to
mir city from the roads above mentioned
will he greatly Improved.

people, and to have tho mails regularly
carried to them. Our postmaster, Col.
Hogan, is ready to give any assistance o r
information in his power to further this
enterprise. A Vo trust some of our enor-
getic citizens, who lmvo nothing to do,
will take this matter in hand and run the
mails to every offieo in the country.
