—A youth has borne ’mid snow and ice
this strange and benutiful device, “Cold
Water.” Ho is only 15 and a Chicagoan,

Mount Blanc—the youngest youth who
ever accomplished that feat. It is with
evident awo that a Geneva newspaper
mentions that he was strictly a temper

—Mrs. Isaac A. Appleton, of Salgburg,

squirrel. While putting the gun down
the other barrel accidentally discharged.
The contents passed through her heart.
The husband witnessed the shootiug of

He was met nt the door by his wife, who

famine which Minuesotians are suffering

From his .own personal knowledge he
Staten that tlm grasshopper makes a very
K latablo article of die?, when killed by
iling water and fried iu lmtter. Care
should be taken, however, to cook tho
beast thoroughly, as it is apt to be infest
ed with parasites that die hard—the hair
snake, for instance, which, as we have
heretofore mentioned, has a habit of
occupying lodgings for a good portion
of ite life in the iuterior apartments of
the grasshopper. In portions of Africa
and Western Asia, and we may add West
ern America, the grasshopper is eaten
with great gusto. The Arabs, the Hot
tentots, and the Dakotas take theirs roast
ed whole, minus the legs, or roasted and
afterward powdered and made into cakes
