The regular meeting of thoBoard of Health was held
last evening, the President, Dr, Join D. Piah, in the
Cheir. • -
The minutee of the lest meeting were read and ap
proved. • »
The report of interments for the week was then
made.
The City Marshal stated that the nuisances which
had been reported as existing in different parts of the
oity had been abated. He also informed the Board
that inexhaustable supplies of lime and copperas had
been procured, to be used as disinfectant.
The report* of the several Ward Committees show
e marked Improvement in the sanitary condition of
the city, comparatively few nuisances being com
plained of.
t>r. West callsd the attention of the Board to the
fact that tha smallpox waa prevalent among the ne
gro** in a certain portion of the city, end that no ar'-
rangement bad been made. for the removal of such
eases beyond the limit* of the city. He also stated
that no provision had been made for sick and indi
gent refugee*, many of whom were suffering for the
want of proper attention.
A Committee, composed of Drs. Waring and West,
and P. M. nusaeU, Esq., was appointed to confer with
tha Burgeon of Ah. Freedmeu’s Bureau Hospital in re
gard to persons of this character.
A resolution waa offered by Mr. Mercer, and adopted,
requesting the City Connell to pass an ordinance re
quiring all owners ox occupants of bouses within the
llmite of the city to whitewash them thoroughly, and
to raiqpve all decayed houses and fences during tha
month of June, ensuing. The absolute necessity for
the free use of lime and other disinfectants during the
approaching summer waa forcibly illustrated in re
marks made by the mover of the resolution, and Dr.
Waring.
Dr. Waring, from the committee on low laud*,
stated that but little had been accomplished as yet to
ward* draining the low land; adjacent to the city, bnt
that in an interview with j>3n. Tillson upon tho sub
ject, he was assured by that officer that he would ren
der all the assistance in hie power to secure tho desired
reeult. Dr. Waring, Mr. Mercer and the President
were appointed a committee to wait upon and confer
with the Council to-morrow evening iu reference to
this subject.

The Wexthee—The rather unseasonably warm
weather which we have experienced for the past few
weeks was the precursor of quite a change, which took
place yesterday. During the morning a strong breeze
sprung up from the southwest and heavy clouds began
to gather, from whence we were visited with quite a
refreshing rain. The shower was accompanied by
sharp lightning and heavy thunder. Last evening,
with the shifting of the wind, it turned quite? cool,
aud as we write it bids fair to continue so all night.

Balance iu Treasury May 26 $o4,470,00j>
The price of gold opened thls morning under some
excitement to advance tho. figure on the reported
heavy sliipmouts of the day. The first sales Were at
14iq. The market subsequently returned to 139ij,
the price ot' last night, and finally closed at 140 per
cant. Fxobange on London, 60 days’ sight, was ne
glected, but a fair business waa done on eight, and
three days’ sight at llOMfper cent., the Continental
rotes being conformed' to tbi* quotation. There will
probably be further ehipments of gold to the amount
of nearly $10,000,000 before the response Is known
hare to the first great shipments of last week, unless
the news by the steamers due on Monday morning
should be unexpectedly favorable. Opinions are
much divided at present as to the probable nature of
the advices, financial as well as political.
Tha sharp turn in the money market, resulting, a
few days since, from the heavy settlements for gold at
the Treasury Office, ran Itself out, as we auppposed
it would, to-day, after these settlements had been com
pleted. The rate for money to the brokers continued
at 7 per cent, until about two o'clock, when it was
found that considerable balance* were likely to be left
unemployed, end a number of lenders were reedy to
accept 6 per cent. This figure will, probably, be the
rule of the street for the next week, es very heavy cur
rency disbursements from the Treasury Office are in
prospect . .
