Violating Habbob Regulations.—The captain of
a vessel in port was brought before the Mayor yester
day, charged with violating Harbormaster’s roles, in
not having a proper light displayed from his vessel
while lying in the stream, on the night of die 31st of
May. The. policeman who reported the case also
brought forward a private wharf watchman, who also
stated that he could observe no light suspended from
the vessel on the night in question. The captain
brought forward his first mate who, with the captain,
testified that there was a light suspended from the
vessel, bat as he burnt kerosene oil in the lantern
which was hong np, the glass may have become
smoky, and the light not have been visible from the
wharf. As all officers of vessels are familiar with port
regulations, and it seeming that the light in this case
had not been properly attended to. a fine of $5 was
imposed on the captain.
