the following case9 were disposed of yesterday:
Amanda McKinney (colored) charged with appropri
ating the property of her employer to her own use,
was committed to jail.
Sikes Reed, (colored,) charged with stealing vegeta
bles from one of the market gardens adjacent to the
city, after an investigation of the case, was admitted
to bail for his appearance before the next' term of the
City Court.
State vs. Joseph Rivers, (colored,) larceny after a
trust delegated and trust reposed, was committed to
. jail to await his trial before the City Court.
State vs. Herman Pizes. charged with an assault
with intent to murder, was committed to jail for
examination.

Cotton.—The market, since our last report
been exceedingly dull, with little, if any transactions.
This dullness has been caused by the late advices
ceived from the North, noting a dull market, with but
little transactions. Middling cotton may be quoted
here nominally at 34 a 35 cents per pound.

Francis Flannigau, improper conduct, drunk and
fighting in the streets, was fined five dollars.
Thomas Megan, charged with improper conduct in
the house of witness, striking him and abusing his
lamily. The prisoner stated that he was intoxicated
end knew nothing of tho occurrence; whereupon he
was let off by His Honor with a fine of five dollars and
costs.
Henry Brown, colored, charged with improper con
duct, drunk and lying in the streets, was fined two
dollars and costs.
Joe Burns, colored, charged with improper conduct,
drunk and lying in the streets, was fined two dollars
and costs.
Sweet Sixteen.—Justice John A. Staley yesterday
morning united in the holy bands of wedlock, Mr.
William Rustin and Miss Jenny Floyd, both of Liberty
county. The groom is fast approaching his 80th year,
while the bride is quite a comely young woman, not
yet having reached her 2*th year. Both parties hail
from Liberty county, and seemed well pleased with
one another. We understand that the groom was for
merly a married man, but has sued for a divorce. The
first verdict of the jury being in his favor, he did not
thing It requisite to await a second decision.
Steamer William G. Gibbons.—This fine steamer
which was sunk on tho river while on her way to this
city from Augusta a short time since having been raised
was towed to this city yesterday by the steamer Two
Boys. The engines, boilers, &c., of the Gibbons are
all in good order, and the cost of placing her in run
ning condition again will not reach the amount at
first computed, the injuries received by her being
very slight.
From New Iork.—The steamship Virgo, Captain
Buikley, from New York, arrived at her wharf at an
early hour yesterday morning. For full files of late

tickets will be sold on MONDAY and TUESDAY, the
25tli and 26th instant, for FIVE DOLLAHS, to go
Savannah and return by any train, up to and inclu
ding the one from Savannah on Sunday evening, 1st
of July.
And during the first week of July, commencing
MONDAY, the 2nd, this compliment will be extended
to the Inhabitants of Savannah, to enable ihem
visit their friends in the interior of the State.

AN ORDINANCE
To be entitled an ordinance to change tho Sunday
ordinances against the sale of soda water and ica
cream on that day.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen ol the
city of Savannah, and it is hereby enacted by the
authority of the same, That from and after the pas
sage of this ordinance it shall and may be lawful for
soda water to be sold on Sundays at all hours, up to
eleven o’clock at night, and ice cream from five o’clock
in the afternoon to eleven o'clock at night: Provided,
that the same be not sold or hawked about the streets
of the city.
2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances miltta
ting against the ordinance are horeby repealed.

proximity to i he best schools in Georgia. In the vil
lage the Episcopal, Presbyterian. Methodist and
Baptist denominations have regular worship. The
railroad from Augusta will be completed to Sparta
by Fall, and in the following Spring to Milledgevllle.
