Ah 1 the web is meant for me,
Poor, unhappy poet;
There’s no use in struggling now,
I’m done for, end I know it
Sunny curia, end moonlight walks,
And paeeagee from Byron,
Have bound me down in chains as strong
As triple-hammered iron.
Cease your spinning—your poor gams
Owns that you have nicked him;
Cease your spinning, wily one,
I’m a willing victim. * j
Crown yonr sacrifice with dowers,

What could be more tender in sentiment or beauti-,
ml in expression than the following lines from a poem :
of Mary Louise Chitwood ?
If a pilgrim has been shadowed -i
By a tree that I have nursed;
If a cup of clear cold water
I have raised to Ups athirst;
If I’ve planted one sweet flower
By an else too barren way;
. It' I’ve whispered in the midnight
One sweet word to tell of day,
If in one poor bleeding bosom
I a wo-swept chord have stilled;
If a dark and restless spirit
I with hope of heaven h?ve filled;
If I’ve made for life’s hard battle
One faint heart grow brave and Strong-
Then, my Odd, 1 thank thee, bless thee,
