hoped to be able, in a few days, to aaaounoe the fret
that the flan, lor a block of note stores, designed hr
Mesira. limiter & Bruyn, architects, would te te
cepted by the* parties for wbom they were designed.
The plan, we learn, has been accepted, and the ne
cessary material for building will at once be ordered.
The proposed buildings are a block of five stores,
ihjpe£ stories high, and a basement, and are to oecupy
lh| site of the wloden bofldQB* on street,
tear iihr; southiitai running west froin lie Qtaens-
ware House to the bakery ofC. Goetz. The buildings are
to be built entirely of Georgia made brick; the front to
be of pressed brick, handsomely finished. The store
front? ore,to be of ornamental wrought iron castings,
and to ha test in Georgia, if possible. It is tkoBgtit
that our former fellow-citizen, F. E. Timmons, now of
Augusta, can furnish the desired columns at as low a
price as they can be purchased anywhere else.
It is needless to say that these buildings are to be
erected by Messrs. G. W. Wylly and 8. Meinhard, the
present owners of the property.
5fe are glad to .be able : to state the fret that, asidS
from the improvement which it wifi give one dt the
most business portions of the city, the buildings are
to be constructed entirely of Georgia material, and
erected jt>y sonje mechanics, as well a4 it has been de
sign tei, by Savannah architects. Tks bufldingfc wit )n
turned over by the present occupants to Messrs Wylly
and Meinhard on the first of January. About two
weeks will then elapse for the removal of the old struc
tures, when the work on the new building4 will be im
mediately commenced. j
Meeting of the Board of Health.
The weekly meeting of the Board of Health was

the Iasi mehUng were read and confirmed.
The City Marshal stated that the nuisance reported
aa existing in Magazine Ward at the last meeting was
being abated.
The following wards were called and reported by the

Another sale of pools occurred at the Magnolia
House, last evening, at which the bidding was lively
and several pools were sold. The Minnie and Jane L.
remained the favorites. The prospect is that a large
ty will visit the regatta, the best for the two sea
sons, and we know Capt. Threadcraft will well enter
tain:all guests.
Outlaws.—We learn that the brother-in-law of Mr.
Henry Seckinger, who was with him when he was
murdered'by negroes on Saturday last, while coming
to the city yesterday was snapped at with a gun by
some person concealed in the woods near the four
mile post. *Ie states that he distinctly heard the caps
explode, but could see no person. '
From Bobtok.—The steamship City of Bath, Capt.
Lovewell, fro»i; Boston, arrived at her wharf about 11
o’clock yesterday morning.
We learn by the City of Bath that the steamship
William Tibbetts has had extensive repairs placed
upoirher and would sail for Savaimah the present
week.
Severely Stabbed.—Policeman Otten yesterday
afternoon arrested, in Robertsville, one Peter Dehony,
who had severely stabbed his wife with a knife in the
left temple, causing a serious wound, while under the
influence of liquor.
The Tokawanda.—A dispatch has been received by
Messrs. Hunter A Gammcll, announcing the arrival
of the steamship Tonawanda at - Philadelphia yester
day morning.
Wood.—Mr. A. R. Cullen announces in our adver
tising columns that he has on hand a large quantity
^of almost every variety of wood, which he offers for
sale on the most accommodating terms.
‘Watubalized.—John Bryan, Thomas Brennan,
John Holorar. and James Bain appeared before the
County Court yesterday, and after taking the required
oath were declared citizens of tho United States.
