The Dally NeWs and Herald*
SAVANNAH, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, I860.
My Heart la Hungry for Thee.
Alone by the star-lighted window
The soft breeze was threading my hair.
As if the cool fingers of woman
ing to drive away care. <«*
’ i in Heaven,
Were f
The bright lights were burning it
The sky was so tranquilly blue
Ah! the soft-fingered breeze and the stqyllgbt
Reminded me. Mary, of you.
And I thought if the stars were enkindled
With a light all angelic above,
I knew of two orbs that were lighted
With the impulse and glory of love,
So alone by the star-lighted window
A song came gashing and free,
And the burden was: "Mary, dear Mary,
My heart itis hungry for thee!"
Italia may boast of her beauties.
Her radUent Hebe-like girls—
Hispania lytronbadour music
May sing of her orbs and her curls;
But give me thy cheek where the fillies
Are fair as the foam of the sea.
And thy soul when it echoes the burden:
“My heart, it is hungry for thee I"

I know not, I ask not if others
Are rarer, or fairer, than thou—
In thy soul there is love and devotion
And beauty for me on thy brow;
In sunshine or cloud, gent!© Mary—
Oh! day-star and night-star to me—
I shall sing in my sonl, but this burden:
“My heart, it is hungry for the©!”
