By an advertiament in another column, it will be
aeen ihat Mr. McConnell baa reopened hia new billiard
room near the market, which ia anpplied -with three
of Sharp's first class tables, and we understand he will
shortly have another match for a champion cue.
This healthful game ia becoming very popular, and
many of oar yonng men are becoming very proficient
in it. and ere long we may hope to have a conteatant
of our own who will be able to cope successfully with
some of the champions of the Northern cities.
We were witness on Monday night last, of an ama
teur game between Mr. H. B. Butler, who 4s employed
by Mr. Luce, at the Marshall House, and Mr. Bur-
nett, of Atlanta. It waa a discount game of two hun
dred points, played npon one of the fine carom tables
in the Metropolitan Billiard Hall, and daring, tha pro
gress of the game several remarkably fine shots were
made, Mr. Butler at one time making a ran of one
hundred and fifty-five points; at another time a run of
one hundred and four. Several fine rans were made
by Mr. Burnett, but the game ended in favor of Mr-
Butler.
