And thou arhgone t yes, then art gone!
Without a'word of sad farewell—
Without a parting look oirtone— »
And gone how for, oh I who can tell?
Or say how lone, how dark and drear.
Thy pathway to the spirit land.
Companionless, with none to cheer.
Or journey with thee, hand in hand! riNL

That thou hast left tny wonted place,
That we no more shall see thy Ibrm,
Or gaze upon thy gentle face,
Or hear tjjine accents, soft, and warm—
Oh! this were of itself a woe—
A grief to fill a flowing cup,
For God alone can fully know.
How hard it is to give thee up I

But oh 1 the grief is sadder yet.
In deeper shadow veils tpe eye
Like clonds, which, when the sun is set,
Blot star-Hght from the azure sky;
To think that thou, the kind and mild.
Oh t doubly dear, and loving one I
A path, whose horrors none may know, _
Or tell db earth, should'st tread alone!
Tot God hath blest tbeel Thou art gone
Above, a brighter home to find I
Bnt thou hast left, departed one,
A darker earth for us behind;
The sun is bright^—the sky is blue—
The world speaks with itr wonted tone—
Yet all is night to us who knew.
And mourn thine a ngel spirit gone!
