Gents: As to the action of the Fertilizer, I have
been highly gratified. Its effects have been veiy dis
tinct at—cry stage or toe crop, and its pro—ietors
have htwr perimarl; fortunate In toe production
of n StotiH that is-' equally beneficial on corn
and eetoou. 'll h> quite stimulating and yet mild,

My experience is that this American guano is too
slow rntt-t sett ns (or euro, but it is excellent for cot
ton. Tnis arises from the tact that the Americau va
rieties, Its they are known, poese— more of tbe phos

accounts for the quicker action of the Peruvian upon
tbs crop, but the teas permanent effect on the noil.

Gentlemen: According to promise, I give you the
r—alt of experiments made this present year with

As you ure aware, the past neason with ns wa« un-

Held of thirty acres or cotton, two tons to the Held,
being about pue hundred and forty pounds to the
acre. The field (atnbble) was broken up well,* and
the Phosphate dr,11. d by h nd in toying off to ridge.
Several rows were lett without its application to tret
U. The difference between rinse rows and the bal
ance of toe field could be discerned a considerable
distance all the summer, and plainly so tn gathering
tbs crop. And 1 am confident that tlie Phosphate ou
tha thirty acres haa pain me flftv per cent.
I applied a ton of the Phosphate to corn, after
the corn was tip, before the first plowing, and tha re-
suit In the growing of the corn was the same. In
order, however, to make a thorough teat of it with
other Fertilizers, I procured Peruvian Guano aud
Phoenix Island Guano. I applied tbs Peruvian Gua
no to eae aero af corn, super!utcndlng It to pereon,
had the Phosphate to two ceres by the side of tlie
first, tn nearlykfiditqus ntitles, applying about ne-
fbartttle— sfthe Peruvian. Tne result was that the
haepbate equaled the Peruvian Guano, toe ears of
hikMtikg as heavy.
I hare used —veral kinds of the many commercial
—area offered, end coudder the Eureka the lieat
utleto I would aa leave have it lor corn and cotton

v—etables wlib the —me success. I should recom
mend t****. for cotion, the Phosphate be put at least
on Inch under tbe eeed, 200 pounds to the acre. Aud
for cent, apply about a tabL Spoonful when planting
