ThtoOoort me* yeetot day morning, and too argu
ment In the case of th* ship Lampedo, libelled by the
Dnitod State* steamer Nanaemond, waa heard before
Judge Erskine, In admiralty. This case, involving
several nice tow polnto, haa excited aome interest, and
it na ably argued by T. H Willi am •. Eaq., for the
libellant*, and Thomas E. Lloyd. Esq., for the re-
apondeata.
Hr. William In his argument, took the ground
that the ahtp waa in Imminent peril, and quoted the
evidence of Captain King, of th. steamer Lizzie Baker,
to ahow that he could not go to the assistance of the
vaaari, ahe Ming ashore on the aouth breakers of
Warsaw Sound, and in a very dangerous position,
aud said that the ship could not by any poasibto
means, even with the aid of her sails, release
herself from the position. The Nanaemond, at a
sacrifice of time and at her peril, went to her aaalst-
snee, and in doing ao aho strained her boiler. He
arid it might be Contended that the vessel wae in
debted merely for towage, but he read many authori
ties to ahow that it waa really entitled to salvage, be
the amount what it might. Hto argument was very
able, and was listened to with marked attention.
Hr. Lloyd, on behalf of the respondents, said he ad
mitted the applicability of several of the cases cited by
hto learned Mend, tat the first point he would raise
waa that the Nanaemond waa a United States revenue
vessel, and her duty waa to lend her aid and assist
ance to commerce. A merchant veeael waa not bound
to go out of her way to go to the assistance of a vessel
in distreea, and if ahe did slie waa entitled to salvage,
no matter how light the service. Not ao with a Go
vernment vessel. It was her duty, and while he did
not contend that a Government vessel could not claim
aalT*ge, be yet did contend that they must ahow there
waa aomethiog more than merely going to the assist
ance of a distressed vessel; they must ahow there was
danger to life, or imminent peril.
The argument occupied several hours, aud at its ter
mination the Couit adjourned. The decision of the
Judge will be rendered in a few days.
Theatre.
The drama of Lucretia Borgia was performed last
night to a very good house, and in a manner, take it
as a whole, that haa not been equaled by any stock
company on our stage within our recollection. The
principal character, the ruthless Duchess, was
most admirably personated by the leading
lady of the company. Hiss Annie Senter, who
wae well sustained by Hr. Langdon, as Genarro,
Hr. Lowry, as Gubatta, and Hr. Pratt, as the Duke.
All the subordinate characters were well personated.
The character of Lucretia Borgia to one that calls for
the exertion of almost masculine power, and if we
were to find any fault with Hiss Senter’s performance
last night we should say that in some of the scenes
she rose almost above the natural expression of the
very paroxysm of passion which she portrayed. In
the tenderer scenes, the interview with Genarro in
the first set, and in the scene with the Duke in the
second set, in which she plies her artful coquetting to
win her hatband to spare the life of her ton, she was
very effective.
To-night will be presented Bulwer'a popular play of
Money, with an excellent cast, comprising the entire
strength of the company.

FOR NEW YORE
From Medical gentlemen. Profosaora of the highest
Opthalmic talent In Savannah, Ga., and in the Union.
Savannah, Ga., Oct. 26,1866.
I have examined a great variety of Glasses manu
factured by Professor M. Buhhibot, and In justice
to the Professor must say, that hto Glasses are of a
superior quality, adapted to meet the wants of almost
every eye, where the vieira to In say way imperfect.
The Professor selected for me a pair of hie Australian
Crystal Glasses which are of a very snperior quality
and workmanship, rendering vision very distinct,
and sotting my eyes better than say I have ever triad.
»■ B. D. Ammold, M. D.
I fully concur with the above.
J. & Sullivan, M. D.
Savannah, Ga., Oct. 26, 1866.
We have examined the Lenses of Prof BknnunuT,
and consider them superior to any we have seen.
They are admirably adapted not only to improve tbe
imperfections of impaired right, but to relieve the
weariness of vision whioh constant study produce#.
Many of tbe Pluses are eg new aad Ingenious contriv
ance. We cordially recommend the Profeaadr to all
those who require scientific optical ssristonrr.
