Theatre,
The first of Ihe brilliant galaxy of stars who have
be ii ' ngaged by the managers of our theatre, aud
Wuo are to follow iu succession during the Jpreseut
dram dm seasou, makes lier appearance to-night, when
the patrons of tbe drama will have the pleasure of
wjI< oming back to our boards one of SAVitunah's great-
e< favorites. Some eight years ago. Miss Charlotte
Thompson, then young iu her profession, performed
her first engagement in our theatre. Coining amongst
at unheralded, and without pretensions of superior
merit, her talent was not long iu winning the favor
able appreciation of a discerning public, and we think
it may be safely said that it was on our stage that she
laid the foundation of the high reputation which she
has since achieved as sn actress, and whiob has ren
dered her a popular favorite wherever the dramatic
art is appreciated. She appears to-night in one of her
favorite characters—Pauline—iu Bulwer's play of the
“Lady of Lyons," in which she will be sustained by
the excellent stock company.
We feel assured that one who in times past aohieved
so brilliant a success, aud who received such well de
served testamoniala of the respect and admiration ot
the Savannah public, will not be forgotten, aud that
she wdl oe greeted to-night with a cordial and cheer
