Fatal Result of a Dispute Between two
Cltlaene or Tuilaboma. Ala.
We learn from a gentleman who has ar
rived from Tnllahopta, that James D. Adylott
shot and killed a young lawyer named Henry
C. Holt, of that place, Saturday.
It appears that a lawyer named Bishop,
who is a bitter Radical and generally obnox
ious lo the people of Tuilaboma, was
raigued before a Justice of the Peace on (he
charge of fraudulently retaining the money
collected for the benefit pi' his clients.
Justice thought fit tq -bind him' over
sum of $50(rfor»his appearance before
Criminal Court. As he wasjiot a man of
property, it'was tvith difficulty that Bishop
could get any one to go on ffia bond. He
finally, however, got Adylott to’ go on his
brnd, on his promuing as a security to hay
any two guards which might be selected! to
watch over him until tried by the Criminal
Court.
On Friday morniog Holt went to Ady
lott and impugned his moliveg in acting
as security lor Bishop, saying, ini substanfce,
that any man who' would join the bond of
such a d—n rascal as Bishop, was no better
man than the latter. To this Adylott re
plied that he was twenty one years of age,
and he did not ask any body why he did
such a thing, and requested Holt to let l}im
alone. Bun parted. Adylott afterwards
went lo ihe keepfir of a store id'which the
controversy hud occurred and made an
apology for liasiDg created a disturbance
therein. He also went to Holt and offered
on apology, s atiug that if he had said any
thing in the controversy alluded to, he would
make him an ample apology. Holt said he
would not receive an opology - from such a
source. They again separated, but on Sat
urday Holt having heard of some remark
that Adylott had expressed in reference to
the attempted apology, he went to tbe store
at which the latter was engaged, aud called
him out. Adylolt, however, did not go but
until he was called three limes. Holt
told Adylott that he had come-to settle the
difficulty which be claimed had not been
adjusted the day before. Adylott told Holt
to go away, and that, for the best of reasons,
he was the last man in Tuilaboma with
whom be desired to have a difficulty.
Several words then passed between the
dispatints, when Holt told Adylott he had
the difficulty settled. Thrusting bis hand
behind his coat, Holt drew forth a deringer
which be snapped at his antagonist. At
the same time Adylott had drawn a fnur-
bitreled Remington pistol and shot at Holt.
The latter then attempted to draw a re
volver, and whilf in the act, was shot and
almost instantly killed by Adylott. When
the body of Holt was lifted from the grodnd
his revolver was found half drawn from the
belt, and cocked.
Ady o t gave himself np and was held to
bail lor his ‘appearance before a magistrate
yesterday. Holt and Adylolt had served to
other In the .Confederate army, and tbe
closest intimacy existed between themselves
sod folks. It is stated that tbe latter was be
trothed lo the sister of the former’s wife,
who was at that time stopping in Tultahotna.
Holt leaves a wife and one child. He was
buried Sunday, with masonic honefrs. About
two hundred and fitly persons formed a pro
cession to his grave. Both parties wjere
highly esteemed and respected, and the
greatest commiseration is felt that so unfor
tunate a difficulty should have occurred.

Killing o* Two Negroes in East Tennes
see.—On Tuesday last; two negro men Were
shot and killt d in Hawkins county, Eist Ten
nessee, by Mr. I Willis, who killed the
wretch Sizemore, some twelve months sitlce
It appears that these negroes went to 'tbe
house of Mr. Willis, daring his absence, and
demanded something to eat of his mother
and sisters. Their demand was reiused,
when they made t heir way in, against the
protest of the ladies, and proceeded to help
themselves to what they wanted. When Wil-
lis came they were sitting at the table, en
joying themselves, having driven- away ihe
ladies by certain characteristic brntally offen
sive remarks. A low words suffice to ex
plain tbe sitnation, when be passed into an
other apartment, procured a double-barrelled
shot gun, and returned to the dining-room
where the negroes were feasting. One start
ed up, and, being, shot by Willis, fell dead
across tbe table; the other' ran out, but was
shot and killed when barely passed the thres
hold. Whether Mr; Willis has been arrested,
or not our informant conld not say.—Lynch-
