Editor Register :—After delibera

random thoughts as to who shall repre

traversing our county, I thought that I
would find out the temper ot our yeo

them. I find that the people are willing
to let the issues settled by the sword re

! The Public School system, is the one
I find the people most interested in.
And if I mistake not the temper of the
honest vottis of Rockdale county, they
will expect our next Representative to
take imatory steps in a reform in that
direction. They want a man to go there
who is not too modest nor alraid to open
his mouth, no matter how momentous
the issue. And, 1 find the people are on

Prof. John F. McClelland do as our

can speak his sentiments fearlessly, and
such an one is Mack. Voter.

Oats. —Mr. George M. Upshaw
brought into town raonday of this week
a fine sample of fall rust proof oats,
lie has a field ol 18 aeres, abonl
five leet high. We w ere also shown by
the same gentleman a sample of red
wheat, that was taken oft* a patch ol
eight acres—three and four grains to th -
mesh.
Capt. F, J. Whitehead, also showed us
a selection of red oats, taken from uis 18
acre field.
Judging from the samples shown by
both gentlemen, our people need not fear
but there will be plenty for both mau aud
beast.
Harvest.— . Wheat is new ripening in
Rockdale County, and will soon be rea

will commence harvesting this week.
Season. —ln the last few days we have
had good seasons, and since the refresh

And man forget his fellowman to slay ;
